Get out the calendar, and write "Uncle's Day" on the Father's day square. Tell her she better get going on the plans for that day. lol

Rogman, that gas lid looks AWESOME! I've seen Mooser's stuff in photos only, but it looks like top notch work. That is still in our plans.

I am with you on the appreciation thing for my wife. She has helped with the car, and even more important puts up with me "living" in the garage. I'm now taking some time off from the car so she doesn't feel like a Corvette widow

Balance = Vette + Garage + Rogman + Tass

Thanks Steve, I'll be a very happy guy when there is paint on all the panels and all the panels are adjusted on the car... That will still leave the interior and other misc items, but that's the next major milestone...

Default 14 May 12 Update...

Had to tackle the bumper fitment first off as it was driving me crazy... As many times as I've adjusted, loosened, tightened, etc., some of these minor adjustments are not too troublesome... This was the case today... Placed the jack under the bumper, loosened everything, small minor nudges while throwing the bumper in place to check the alignment... In the end, it took about 3-4 small nudges to get it right...

Decided I was going to glass in the bolt holes around where the bumper attaches to give the adhesive more surface area to bond to... Good thing I saved those Spiderman drapes to cover and protect my metal pieces...

Having the tires off to attach the bumper braces, I noticed that the wheel bearing grease was still oozing out at the cap... The caps are new and fit very well, don't understand why this grease is liquefying... Sooooooo, couldn't stand it any longer... Removed the bearings, cleaned, re-greased with Lucas Oil Bearing grease and completely removed the Mobil 1... Re-checked run-out, and installed the Wilwood Calipers... Still have the driver's side to do tomorrow...

Look closely and you can see the grease... Other side is worse...

Cleaned up and ready to go:

Will you be filling that seam on the front bumper, as Adam had talked of eventually doing?

Yepper, smooth body lines on the front end without any seams... Going to be a lot of work...

Hey Rogman, I used the same Mobil 1 Red grease and it is oozing out just like your's, makes me crazy. It's also dripping out of all the ball joints, rod ends, and even the zircs. I read another post here a while back about Mobil 1 doing this, and now I have my own proof. I will not use it again even if it is 'good' grease. I can't even imagine how bad it will get when it get's hot.

Project looks great, you continue to draw me in! Keep up the good work.

That's going to look awesome. I'm looking forward to following along with you on that part so I can pick up some tips on doing ours. Maybe I'll get a chance to see your car in person one of these days. We're only a short drive apart, especially since they put up the bridge.

You're doing an amazing job Roger

Adam

EDIT: I just realized I had missed you getting the front cover aligned - very nice!!! I found an article from Corvette Magazine where they bonded the front cover on and removed the bracing (rubber bumper car - '76 I think??). They used bonding adhesive and totally omitted the bonding strips, bolts etc. I think they were building a track (drag) car but it really turned out well and gave them much more flexibility when making it fit. I think I'm going this route when I tackle ours next fall.

Greg--

Thanks much... I had heard this Mobil 1 was a good grease, I just can't deal with the oozing... As you said, I haven't even driven it yet in the 100+ degree Vegas environment yet... Have you shot the U-Pol yet??

Wow! Mooser's gas cap is fantastic. And Rog, that beauty is really starting to take shape. It won't be long and you'll be cruisin' the strip. Looks fantastic.... Absolutely fantastic.

Thanks Adam... We must've been typing at the same time this morning... I plan on leaving all the braces in place... Want it as strong and rigid as possible...

Default Update, 15 May 12

Finished glassing in the holes this morning for the front bumper... Should be good enough to grind down tomorrow... Riveted the spare tire carrier with the V bracket... If you look closely, you'll see my stack of lumber I used to make a temporary bucking bar...

Spent the rest of the day with my hands and arms inside both of the doors... Several hours scrubbing, cleaning, sanding, scuffing and preparing for the Lizard Skin application... Today was sound control and tomorrow will be the ceramic insulation...

Before Lizard Skin:

Roger, being a Navy guy I'm a little biased but now I think putting junior into AF was by far the right move if even one-tenth of you guys are anywhere near as detail-oriented as you are. One thing for sure; you and Tass are gonna enjoy the daylights out of that Corvette when it's done. The term 'restomod' really doesn't do it justice because what I've seen so far is so over-the-top perfect that nothing compares, and your lovely assistant is worth easily two of anybody working for Chip Foose!

BTW, if you could post up some pics of the bucktails on that spare tire tub I'd like to inspect them...just kidding bro!!
