...I've seen it several times in person and in pictures/movies things look neat or well done. This car was very shoddilly put together. Looked like a grade school class built the thing.

Well you're not too far off, it was supposed to have been built in a high school auto shop class.
I remember seeing that movie at the drive in theater. Yep they actually had outdoor movie theaters, dont ya know.
Anyway it was pretty lame, they tried to capitalize on the popularity of Mark Hamill who had just become a star in the Star Wars movie. But, ya know the car was really the star, back in the day the car was kind of cool looking to me, but C3's werent classic cars either.
For awhile when the movie first came out, I thought it was the coolest car ever. Thankfully my tastes have changed.
Speaking of drive in movies, there is one just down the street. Our car club has a cruise in there twice a summer.
Hang a "mirror ball" off the rear view mirror and lock it away in a Disco era vault. I'm all about custom and modified but that's way too over the top for me.

Yes sir I'm 19. I just bought my 78 maybe two months ago
The movie is reflective of the excesses of the time. Remember what the Trans Ams looked like before anyone even began modding them? We already shake our heads at the Fast and Furious types. Just think what peopley will do in thirty years.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong....the reason he found the corvette was because an script emblem fell off onto the ground near where he was sitting. It said "Corvette"....now the vette in question was a '73 I believe....I think the only script badges were the "Stingray" on the front fenders, correct? Just curious if anyone else picked up on that.
