Yepper, looking good... You got it into primer very fast, great job!!!
Rogman
Thanks Rogman! Yeah, we're headed to 100+ days from now on it looks like, and lows in the 70's. That means by the time I can shoot anything it's too hot out so it was today or not at all until fall.

LONG story short here - We have some new neighbors moving in and their family came to help them paint inside etc. A couple of the relatives saw me working on the Vette and came over to chat. Turns out they have owned a few over the years. The last of which was a '77.
He says to me "I still have the stock t tops in my attic - I sold the car with glass tops. Would you like to buy them? So I tell him sure - bring them over and I'll take a look.
He brings them with today - in the bags(!). Solid latches (mine are shot), liners in place (mine are missing), nice soft seals (mine are falling apart), and the trim is very nice (mine are scratched). Hmmmm what to do.... SCORE!!!!!
What a huge blessing... I'll snap a pic and post it up. All I'll have to do is dye the liner which is tan.
Totally agree guys. I have a set of new front coil springs that I can't use so I'm going to offer to donate them to someone who can. I may have something else here as well, but there just weren't many parts with this car that were good lol
This could start a really good trend.......gonna have a look, I just might have a brand new starter that I'm not using.
Here is a quick shot of the t-tops
I'll get a better photo taken of the whole car with the hood on etc. That will show the tops better as well. It's a little early to fire it up and move it into the driveway. Neighbors like their sleep
They fit fantastic and line up perfect with the roof line which the old ones did not due to the seals being so shot. Even the windows seem to seal up well. They were missing two of the "bolts" on the latches, but our old tops had two of the originals left so I used those.
Man, what a fantastic deal he gave us. Best part is he was happy they were being used because they were just sitting in his garage for 6 years.
A "before and after" shot. The day we got the car and the day I got it sprayed in primer. After all the work on this car you'd think it would look a lot better than it did when we got it. I think I've been looking at it too long - I just don't see much difference on the outside
It's all good though. I know how much better it really is now
It's been a while since I have checked in, maybe like 7 pages ago, ,
I guess I have been busy, but I just wanted to stop in and say WoW, you have
made some awesome progress, it's definitely not the same car, it looks fantastic.

Adam--
Those look fantastic... I have always liked the glass tops... Great find!!!
These are just the stock hard tops. I think the reflection is what makes them look like glass. I should have been more clear - he had glass tops on the car when he sold it and kept these. They are painted light blue metallic which is not a bad color actually. Still, a great bit of luck for us. Hopefully, I can sell the ones that came on our car and use that $$ towards some new front tires.

Not a photo update here - call it a seat of the pants update. I put on the fuel pressure regulator and I "think" I have the flooding issue fixed. Still need to mess with some metering rods and springs I think but it's very close.
For the first time, I really hammered on it. Hearing that carb open up was awesome. Ran it up to 5,000 in first and grabbed a HARD 2nd - tires broke loose and got a nice 2nd gear out of it. Slowed down and came to a stop at the corner. Sat there and idled smooth. Running a little hotter than I want - about 210 after I got in it hard. That's why I'm thinking it might be a little lean on the power circuit.
I would almost assume that in your part of the world you would see 200F on a regular basis.....especially sitting in traffic this time of year. But I would definitely agree with you that you're onto something with the fuel ratio.
I'm sure it will. Since we don't have any miles on the car yet, most of it is nerves on my part. Going to pick up IR temp gun so I can spot check a few places and make sure my gauge is (mostly) accurate. Overall, it ran awesome!
Well that almost sounds like an invitation to take your lovely lady out for ice cream tonight........that's where I'm heading in about an hour.
Ha! We just talked about ice cream a few minutes ago lol Little warm to drive the Vette (95 degrees) so we're taking something with A/C but we're on our way out in a bit as well.

Come'on Adam... Let the ole lady take you guys to the u-swirl store... You can cool down while eating yogurt...
I know you've been working on the front bodywork so I'll ask if you reinstalled the little black plastic chin spoiler under the front bumper? It really helps with the cooling, like it is mandatory. Also, have you sealed all around your radiator so all air entering the nose must go through the fins? The OE black foams probably disintegrated when you removed the rad to install the new engine... they need to be replaced with something as well. Just thinking out loud here... don't just assume it's carburetion, especially if it runs as strong as you indicate it does.
