Thank you Scott - and to everyone else that has posted as well. I really appreciate the prayers. I have been tinkering with the car a little in the mornings to keep busy.

Changed out the metering rods (+8% richer) and the plugs now have a very nice tan color to them. The transition from cruise to power seems smooth and it also helped smooth out the off idle transition. I figured I'd need to try a different accelerator pump setting, which I still might, but it's almost perfect from what I can tell.

I still need to work on my timing a little and I'd really like to get this distributor on a machine.

Thanks again guys,
Adam

Hey Brian,

Will do my friend. As you said, keeping the mind busy and not dwelling on things is good. It's what works best for me so that's what I'm doing. The last time I talked to my Mom she was so glad I got the primer sprayed in time for summer - my cars are a big part of my life and she knew that. I think she would be proud that I'm continuing to work on the project

Well, we're back from South Dakota and trying to get back to life as we know it. I'm so drained right now, but that's to be expected.

Planning to dig back in a little this week and some on Saturday. My wife and I went on a little cruise last week before we left and had a blast. Car ran fantastic and stayed right at the 200 mark on the temp gauge. We got the "wave" from a couple in a C6 and had some little kid in the back of a SUV looking out the window at a stoplight. All my wife heard was "coooooool". We needed a break from reality and this certainly hit the spot.

Glad you guys made the trip okay. My mom is very interested in my build. She has no interest in cars, really. I think moms just like to know their sons are able to do something that makes them happy. I am glad yours got to see that also and I am sure it meant a lot to her.
These cars are a great distraction and I hope you can get back to work on it. Glad you got to drive it around. That had to be cool.
I am headed to SD in 2 days to visit my car and help work on her for about a week or so.
Keep us posted.

Awesome, glad you guys are back safe and sound... Running at 200 degrees is just about our ambient air temperature over the last week or so... Phoenix has been hitting 110-115, hasn't it???

Hey Brent,

My Mom was the same way. Not a big interest in cars in general, but she knew that they are a big part of her sons lives and that made them important to her. Have a safe trip. Where at in SD? We were in Sioux Falls.

Thanks Roger,

It's been stupid hot here for this time of year. We left on Friday and the expected high was 112 The day we drove it was about 100 out for a high. When we went for a drive it was right about 85 or so. I don't think it will hold up to very much stop light traffic, but for a early morning cruise, I think we're OK.

Tires are the next step for this project. I've been looking at a few brands - BFG, MT, Cooper etc. I keep going back to the BFG T/A. I do like the look of the MT radials and they are a close second right now. Basically the same price as the BFG, so part of the decision will be where can I get them and how easy is it to have them replaced if there is a problem. The local Discount Tire has treated me right several times in the past and that means a lot to me. They even rotated and balanced tires that weren't purchased there and didn't charge me because I have purchased several sets of tires there in the past. Leaning towards buying them there for that reason.

Date codes will be checked before any tire is mounted. No way I'm paying for tires that are already a year or two old when I get them.

The price of tires these days is pretty out of control, but what can you do.

Adam--

You going with the stock size??? Tire Rack has the stock BFGs for $109 each... I know my tire guy on base will match or will beat the Tire Rack price... I know what you mean about having a "local" tire guy and don't mind paying a "little" more for that familiar relationship, but only a little...

Hey Roger,

I'm going with 275/60 on the rear and 245/60 on the front. I have 255's on the front now and they rub just a little, so I'm sizing those down. 235 would be too much of a drop in size.

I have talked to them about price, but I wasn't ready to buy yet, so I didn't work the details yet. Once I'm ready - maybe the next two weeks or so, I'll go over and put some pressure on them to swing a deal. I did some rough pricing on tirerack.com and by the time I pay shipping etc, I'm basically within about $5 per tire compared to Discount. For $20 or $30 difference it's worth it to get them locally IMO.

I recall reading the Journal entry of our European friends that just completed their trip through Italy; and one of the guys had just purchased your MT's. I remember him saying however that he wasn't fond of them in the wet......not that that will affect you much in the valley of the sun. I think the MT's are kind of unique also...I don't certainly see them every day....heck every month for that matter....just my 2 cents.

Agreed! I think that's a big portion of my interest in them Brian. You just don't see them around much. I really like the looks of the tread, sidewall and lettering on the BFG, but the MT radials are pretty nice looking too. Small, clean looking white letters. The tread pattern doesn't appeal to me as much as the BFG, but it's not a deal breaker either.

I haven't found anywhere locally that sells the MT radials, so I'd be looking at shipping costs and any warranty issues would be more of a pain then dealing with a local Discount Tire and some BFG tires.

Well buddy.....based on that logic alone, it's hard to argue. Hopefully by the end of the month the piggy bank is ready for a withdrawal, and you and your lovely lady can start enjoying the summer, good luck.

Could you send down some of that cool air? Just a guess, but Roger would take some as well.

I'm actually pricing out the MT's on Summit's website right now.

MT Sportsman S/T Radials
2 - 245/60/15
2 - 275/60/15
$540.34

Ground Shipping
$38.00

Handing
$12.95

Total
$591.29

No warranty or road hazard available that I can see.

So, I'm browsing back through this whole thread and realize.... I didn't know the '77's came with interior lights by the kick panels. I've never had kick panels installed to mine in the 15 years I've been working on it, so now I'm wondering what else I'm missing that I didn't know I should have. Thanks for posting the photo!

On another note, the resurrection is looking great, and in such short order!

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the compliments The lights are actually under the dash on each side. I had to replace the drivers side light bracket as ours was missing. I think I picked it up from Ecklers? (Correction - Corvette Central) They are both pretty easy to get at - well, as easy as it can be under these cramped interiors.

Ecklers has the right side bracket and I think I ended up getting the left side at Corvette Central.

http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1968-1977.html

I can't seem to get a link to work on the Corvette Central site so here is the part number for the left (DS) bracket: 493021

http://www.corvettecentral.com/

Glad it was a help!

Adam

So I've put the tires on hold - few other things have come up and I'm working long hours to get my business rolling ahead. First things first.

Couple of little projects ahead in the next couple of weeks - have to keep them simple and short in this AZ heat.

I'm going to pull the distributor and rework the oil pressure switch routing. Long story, but I had to replace it after I got the new motor running due to having an incorrect one the first time around. Just not enough room to get it started correctly without removing the dizzy first.

I'm also messing with different types of foam around the radiator and across the top of the radiator support. I am seeing improvements in the temps so once I get that figured out I'll post up what I used. It's a fairly cheap way to solve the cooling issue and it seems to be working. Pics will follow once I get it finished up.
