I am sure this is a tired old thread topic but I am new here so I just want to see if I am weird or if my opinion is a little bit normal.
I like the lines of TT's better than verts because of the rear window, etc. I am referring to 68-77 of course. I don't care as much for the bubble hatchback window of the 78-82 TT's.
To me, the rear window and TT structure looks stronger and more muscular. I don't necessarily have the same opinion of the newer Vettes because they don't have the same rear window lines as the 68-77 C3's.
Make any sense at all? I know the verts are worth a lot more but am I in a vast minority with this opinion?
I love the look of both... I'm a convertible guy, but wouldn't hesitate to buy a T-Top with the correct options/condition... I also love the look of the 78-82s... Probably more partial to the 80-82 from the hatchback style...

I have never seen a vert of any model car that I like as much as the hardtop version. Take the roof off and you take away a large portion of the body design and appeal IMO. My wife loves verts, so the TT was a great choice for both of us.
What's the saying? No accounting for taste..
We all have a reason for being here. I like the lines. Designed for looks, not by the wind-tunnel (improved aerodynamics = more like an egg)
Personally, and I can only speak personally, as a TT owner, I'm not a fan of verts with the top up (I know, why would you put the top up) Down they look good
If I had my choice, I really like the removable hardtop, done in black vinyl. Best of both worlds

Iv'e had each, liked both but still will always go towards a convertible. To me the "lines" that make a C3 are the fenders so both TT and Verts have that. Always wondered when I had a TT how it would have looked if GM had decided to go with a true targa top. Either way, all are fun!
statistically speaking, only 13% of all C3 cars were convertibles.
so one can see why this thread will migrate toward favor for coupes.
i think deep down that many would prefer a convertible, if a convertible was available, and one could afford it.
Disagree. I can afford it. I do like the driving with the top down experience but I just like the C3 roof lines of the TT better than vert with top up or down. The TT just looks more bad ***! Vert with top down is cool as **** though - no doubt about it!
Just yankin' your chain. All of us have preferences and favorites. I have one of each, a coupe and a convertible. The convertible is my personal favorite almost certainly because she was my first. My fiancee owns two - 71 and 96 - both convertibles.

I knew you were. Your fiancee owns a 71 and a 96? Mike, that's wide open for teasing... but I'll suffice to say that you are going to be one kick *** Corvette family!
If you really don't care about having a convertible, then it makes a lot more sense getting a coupe - you can get a lot nicer car for the same amount of $. Simple supply and demand, if 50% want coupes, and 50% want convertibles, and 75% of the cars are coupes, and 25% are convertibles - it's pretty easy to see how the laws of supply & demand will work.
I really don't care for the look of a convertible with the soft-top up - but with the hardtop on I think it looks pretty cool. Also,
I'm with the guys that don't like any convertible compared to its non vert counterpart. Honestly, handed the option of any car convertible or non, I'd choose non for my body style prefference. I feel that way only about the body lines and how they look.
Driving a convertible is another story, the freedom is a wonderful feeling, but for that I ride Harleys, and my convertibles are my jeeps. I also feel that a lot of convertible cars rattle more, and you hear more road noise and car noise. I'm talking more than just vettes
I feel T tops are a little of both worlds, stronger body lines, yet still a feeling of freedom.
