dated side mirror glass
Is there a way to remove the glass from the drivers side mirror?
I have my original 69 dated mirror, but the chrome is a little pitted. I have a perfect mirror on the car and the glass is dated 71.
If it cant be swapped I will just clean the 69 up a bit and put it on for judging.
Has anyone tried this before?

The mirror glass is glued to the mirror head. I've read soaking the head in lacquer thinner will dissolve/loosen the glue on the mirror glass.
If memory serves, there should be an archive thread about swapping mirror glasses.
Good luck.

You can just soak it in gasoline overnight to loosen the adhesive on the mirror glass. Be sure that you cover the container [you have the gas and mirror in] with a towel or other covering that will minimize the fumes...which will be highly flammable and smelly.
