The best [and easiest] way to do that is to, first, remove the existing hose from the switch. Then find a piece of rod about 1/8" in diameter and about 1"long; stick half that rod into the end of the existing hose and the other half into the 'replacement' hose. Clean the surfaces at the hose joint with lacquer thinner, etc. and use one round of duct tape to hold them together.
Now, pull the old hose out from the other end (help that hose removal from the inside, if you need) until the new one is in proper position. Connect the 'switch' end of the new hose, remove the tape/old hose/rod, and attach the new hose as required.
Hi m,
The hose routing for the wipers is shown on 2 pages in the AIM.
The routing for the engine compartment side of the firewall is in UPC 12, Sheet A15; and for the dashboard side, in UPC 12, Sheet B 9.
The sheet number might be a little off in your 69 AIM, but should get you within a page or two.
There are also 2 sheets for the proper headlight vacuum hose routing;
UPC12, Sheets 13 &14.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
As Alan stated the AIM is tour best friend, however as an additional source, I also found this thread last summer and these simplified digrams also helped connect the dots for me: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...tem-works.html
After looking at my AIM on the pages Alan suggested. I think I see my problem. Are there supposed to be two grommets with three holes going threw the fire wall? One going to the interior and one going up to the wiper switch. The AIM is kind of hard to read when there is nothing to reference from.
Thank all of you for helping me. My father gave me the car about three years ago. It's been in peaces since the early 90's and I get overwhelmed sometimes. Are all AIM ,kind of blurry and look like copys of copys?
Hi m,
There are two 3 hole grommets.
The one on the passenger's side near the hood latch has 1 hose running to, and 1 hose running from, the wiper safety switch, and a short piece of hose that's a vent line.
The 3 hole grommet on the drivers side has the vacuum supply line running to the headlight and wiper switches and then 2 lines coming back out going to the wiper relay and the headlight relay.
You're right, the copies of the AIM vary in readability.
Regards,
Alan
