I generally don't tell on myself but man did I screw up. Last fall when I was reassembling my center gauge cluster I made one small error that was not evident until yesterday or really this morning. I did some engine work over the weekend and it was then that I took the plug out of the oil port and hooked up the new oil line. I started the engine and fine tuned the timing then took it for a test drive pleased with my work I put the car to bed. This morning a huge puddle of oil was on the garage floor Thankfully I did not have carpet in yet. This evening I took the gauge cluster out and took the oil line off the oil gauge and discovered the compression fitting was in backwards. Who would have thought so much oil could flow so quickly .
I had a leak on the line @ the threaded brass fitting in the engine compartment. I was told to fix it right away, or I'd be surprised by how much oil would drain. Sounds like a mess, but I guess its better to clean up a puddle in the garage, as opposed to calling a wrecker from the side of the road miles from help.
