I just inherited a 1976 Corvette with 9,500 original miles on it. Mice have a way of getting into my garage and Im wondering if anyone knows a surefire way of keeping the mice out of my car.
Get a big jar of peanut butter and a couple of packages of cheese.
Wait until it's dark outside.
Make your neighbor's house more appealing to the mice.
Seriously, mothballs (the stinky ones, not the "cedar" ones) in a sock, one inside the interior, the other in the engine bay.
I've put one or two in a small tinfoil tray and put them on the carpet
Maybe put one here and there underneath the car on the floor.
It's good to know exactly how many and where you put them when it comes time to take them out

I usually keep a couple mouse traps baited with peanut butter, facing the garage walls. Mice like to walk along walls, and sometimes just accidently step on them. Throw dead mice outside in the shrubs, as will stink you out, if in the garage trash bin. Check out the "bugspray.com" site under "M" for mice, as will tell you all about it. The site also mentions live predators(like cats) can add to the problem, as usually involves food and water sitting out.
I also do the Irish spring soap around my tires; 4 slices for each tire (N, S, E, W).
I also do moth *****. I put them around the exhaust so that they don't climb up in there, I sprinkle them under the car, then put several inside the car with an air freshener to try to keep the smell from completely soaking the interior next time I drive it.
I found out from a friend of mine. He uses Pepermint oil from pharmacy on cotton *****. Mice can't stand it. He hasn't seen a mouse since being turned on to it. It also smells better than moth *****!!
I can't verify that this works but something I read recently sounded interesting. The article suggested placing instant mashed potatoes in small aluminum pie pans (or a similar dish) around the garage. The little critter eats the potatoes and gets thirsty. Works just like DiCon but it is pet safe. Still have the issue if it crawls under the dash and bits the dust!
