Hello everyone. I have been lurking on here for a couple of weeks and I have learned quite a bit from you all. I just got a 1980 Corvette that I am doing a total restore on. This is my first Vette and I will have to say this restore has become very addicting! The bad part is I ordered an interior package over a month ago and I have still not received it. I ordered the carpet, seats, and door panels. I realize these things have to be made but does anyone know if it is normal to wait this long? If anyone could share their experience it would be much appreciated.
Never heard of them. Have you called them? What did they say?
About a week is a reasonable time for getting an interior package shipped to you. Most likely, they buy the stuff from Corvette American and just ship it to you for their price. If they can't promise you receipt of your order in a time that is reasonable...and you odered the parts on a credit card, call the credit card company and tell them you want to cancel the order because the vendor can't provide it. They will call the vendor to see what's going on. That will either get them to expidite the material to you, or the credit card company will cancel the order and return the money to your account.
Then you can order the stuff from Willcox, or Al Knoch, or some other responsive vendor.
Hi TC,
A, NEW, OLD, Corvette! NICE!
I hope you get your interior parts problem staightened out.
If I may I'd like to mention the need for thinking about "sequence" when you're starting "a total restore".
I'm not sure just what you mean by those words but I believe the interior is generally the last thing that should be done in a restoration rather than the first.
Have you thought about some sort of 'plan' for what you're going to be doing?
Good Luck!
Alan
While your waiting for your parts, order the 1980 assembly instruction manual (AIM) and thumb through it after it arrives.
Get a service manual too. It'll help you understand how the electrical system, among others (vacuum, A/C, tops adjustments, widow adjustments etc.) works and is layed out. These two books work well together.
You don't have a color posted so I can 't check stock.. but packages ship out at a min. of three working days.
If you are thinking about canceling what you have ordered, post up what color, leather, vinyl, leather.. mounted or non mounted... I'll get you a package price and shipment time.
A friend ordered a new 68 camaro interior from Classic Industries, and wondered why it wasn't being shipped. He called them and they said they were waiting for all the bits so they could send the order out complete. Nice of them to let him know! Not! Just a thought.......
I keep going back to Willcox, just placed another order today I should of placed when I ordered my gas tank. Just can't beat the service or discount. I am pretty convinced at this point, that Willcox is my first bet for most of my restore item needs.
Congrats on the 1980. I purchased one too, that was a Resto-Mod. I'm doing a frame on resto-mod of my own. I my desire is to end up like a lot of the other guys on this forum who've owned their car for more than a decade. And maybe one day when I'm older, do a frame off restoration with my own son.
As for now, memory making time driving and enjoying the vette.
Thanks for the welcome!

Well I guess when I say a total restore all I have to do is the interior, repaint, wheels, air conditioning, and minor engine repair. I going back with black interior, all leather, and just about everything will be brand new on the inside. They said I needed a hobby, I guess I have one now!
I already have the AIM and it has came in handy a few times.
I have ordered from Wilcox and Corvette America several times now and they have both been great. Great customer service and fast shipping. I'm not sure what's going on with CorvetteSouth but I have sent them an e-mail about the holdup.
While you're at it, get new seat foam. You'll be amazed at the difference.
I ordered the seats to be mounted on new foam. Everything in this car was roached and needed to be replaced. As I was tearing into it I couldn't believe how bad it was.

Welcome to the group. As Alan 71 suggested if you are going to repaint do that before you put your new interior in. Nothing worse than ending up with some overspray on a brand new interior. Good luck with the project it is looking good.
i bought an entire, wall to wall interior restoration of parts from wilcox and had virtually every piece within 10 days. they are professional, courteous and very knowledgeable. if you order parts from them you won't be sorry. great pricing on all major manufactured parts.
Corvettesouth.com... I recall their website. You click on any section of the red Vette and it takes you to whatever catagory of parts that you had your mouse pointed at. Never purchased anything from them, but they stress customer service on their home page. I guess you shall find out first hand.
I've ordered package deals from other suppliers and my experience has been that they don't ship until all of the parts are together and ready to ship as one. Hopefully that's true in your case.
Ordered complete interior of leather, Carpeting, and door panels.... and recieved them within 3 days..including Carpeting and Door panels from 'Al Knoch
STUFF IS AVAILABLE AT WILCOX i
