Default Ecklers Order???

I just recieved my first order in Australia from Ecklers and I can say that I am not happy. They incorrectly supplied the wrong part at more than double the cost of the part I ordered. They offered to send the correct part, but no mention of refunding the difference in price. I have found them nearly impossible to communicate with via email. If they do respond to an email it is usually 3-4 days after I send it. It also took numerous emails to get an invoice out of them for the goods I recieved. They did not apply the correct discount to my order and gave no options on shipping methods despite my request.

Can anyone tell me if this is the usual way Ecklers conduct their business and if so where else can I go for parts for my C3?

Depends on the parts you're looking for. Do you need mechanical parts, body parts, or upholstery items?

Pretty much all of the above. My C3 is pretty tired. I am trying an order with Corvette Central. So far they have been a little easier to deal with.

I've had positive personal experiences with Mid America and Zip Products, and a good friend of mine, who does a lot of Corvette restoration work, has had good luck dealing with Corvette Central.

I am very pleased with my dealings with Willcox. Further, he is there to help both on and off the forum.

don't email them, call them up... ask for someone experienced in overseas shipping and sales...calmly and plainly explain the problem and issue. I am sure they can help. no one in a successful business is intentionally trying to screw you over.

Never did order much with them. One of my first corvette-orders ever was from them and they managed to screw that up as well. Kind of what you had happening : ordered some books, got some completly different parts (for a different car than mine, that were of no use to me). Had to pay customs and what not on that delivery, they never reïmbursed me. Was the last time I ordered with them...

There are others and better.

Really? You guys think buying from Willcox will solve shipping problems to a forum member who lives in Oz? Most of my Willcox orders have been drop shipped from Corvette CHINA, oops I mean America...although CHINA would be both quicker, and cheaper shipping.

cue487023, you'd do well to cut out all the middlemen and deal with the CHINESE manufacturer direct. Although you probably won't get any better service after the sale.

Maybe, but they will only do something like that once.

Thanks for all of your comments and help. I have another package on the way from Corvette Central so I will see how that goes. Still no reply from Ecklers about my refund (no surprise really). Oh well, looks like I have a new left headlight bezel for a 63L-67 that will be going cheap if someone needs it.
Cheers, Colin

Ecklers new owners said there would be no changes and I guess they were right!

I've dealt with Ecklers more than once. In fact I have a hood on order now. They cut the heck out of the price because ground shipping rates are ridiculous. To date I've been very happy with the products delivered. When I call, I get positive and friendly customer service. I've ordered from paragon, corvette central, corvette America and vb&p. All have given me good to excellent service. Guess I'm a minority?

As for parts from China, welcome to our global economy. In case you missed it, US manufacturing has sunk to new lows. GM won't get you that part for your 40 yr old car, even my 20 yr old corvette has been relegated to aftermarket sources.
My new hood from Ecklers is made in the USA, who do I blame if it comes in blemished or ill fitting? Floridians? Just saying.....

Not with me. I have no real complaints with Eckler's, but that doesn't help you any.

Why rely on email? Work out the time differences and call them.

Where have you looked?

I am perservering with email as it is a permanant record and because with a 14hr time difference I am up in the middle of the night/early morning to call. Also International calls aint cheap and I am already out of pocket with Ecklers stuff up!

Currently have another shipment with Corvette Central on its way.
