Racing stripes?
I see alot of cars with variations of this paint job shown below. I have found that it was a paint job on a 1969 ZL-1 Vette. But I am curious to know if this style of stripe has any other significance? I am painting my car Firemist Orange Metalic, and would want a racing stripe, and I love this style. Would it be a sin against the car gods to do this style stripe in black on my 1979, highly modified and puts out about the same HP as the 427 the ZL-1 had. Also, my dad's first Vette was a 69, so it seems kinda fitting. What do you guys think?

Just to clarify, that picture is not my car, but a picture of the type of stripe I want. Except on mine I want what is black to be the Firemist orange. and what is white in that pic I want black. Also my car is a rubber bumper car.

I've scoured this site and google for pictures of a rubber bumper car with the Baldwin paint scheme. The only cars I've found have had the 80-82 bumper. I've given up on the idea because I don't think it will turn out with the 74-79 rounded rear bumper.

Dmeesq that car is sick!!!!!! Man the seamless rear facia really makes a difference. Mind you the rectangle lights don't hurt either! Where did you find that?
Otherwise I have to agree with the OP, the later C3 doesn't seem to have the same visual impact as the early C3. But work with idea of moving the bottom of the stripe more perpendicular instead of just following the seam line. That will serve to draw the eye toward the rear wheel well.

Hi cpf,
I believe the ZL-1 cars had a stripe on the front of the hood surround that ran side to side just to the rear of the bumper and over the head light doors.
I don't think many people find it interesting since you rarely see it on anything but a ZL-1 clone.
The Baldwin Motion stripe is another story.
Here's a Motion car that was restored by Kevin MacKay.
Regards,
Alan

kinda thinking about doing this with my silver 73, except I'd like a little more on the 1/4s and leave the tail panel silver.
more so looking for how too, car is a driver a has a poor quality paint job so can't hurt too much.
