I'm getting ready to replace the vacuum hoses on my '70. I've got various diagrams to follow and most of them show the vacuum tank as having 3 outlets. My tank only has 2, (AIM shows 3). I do have one diagram showing the 2 outlets. Was there a reason for some tanks only having the 2 outlets? Thanks.
are you sure you aren't overlooking one ? There are two up high and one down low. One input from the manifold and tow outputs one to the wiper door and then one to the headlights. At least that's the way it is on my 72 and I thought the 70 was the same.
Use a mirror to check up higher...under the fender lip...for the third fitting. If there are only two fittings on your tank, it has been modified or it is a replacement tank. In that case, just get a big T-fitting and hook the "supply" line to one of the fittings and the other two hoses connected to the T-fitting and then attached to the second tank fitting.
Careful! That upper tank fitting may have been broken off and patched...or just broken off and left open.
Hi,
I BELIEVE the 68-69 tanks only had 2 nipples while the 70-72 tanks had 3.
I guess it would be possible for a 2 nipple tank on a 70 to be a service replacement?
HC, is your 70 an early built car?
Regards,
Alan
