Hi..I am a regular member of the C6 ZO6 forum....the 2008 ZO6 is the 7th Corvette I have been fortunate enough to own.
I wanted to do a search for a 1968 BB Roadster I used to own....bought it new in San Francisco, California in 1968 and traded it in to a dealer in 1972 in Hayward, California. The car might have been sold to a person in Eureka, Ca.
Anyway, I still have the Corvette Owner Card that was issued to new vehicle owners back then....it is embossed with: Serial #194678S. After those factory embossed numbers, I wrote: 427359. I tried a search on a commercial vin # checking site and they report the number was no longer available, whatever that could mean.
Anyway, thought maybe someone on this forum might have a suggestion about researching this....I would like to see if the car is still alive and well and possibly buying it back.
Hi Marty,
It could be, (maybe a good chance!), that a 68 convertible 427 car has survived.
You might consider joining the NCRS for $35; then you can place free information wanted ads in their quarterly cars/parts/services/info publication, THE DRIVELINE.
The ad may just bear results! Someone might recognize the description or your vin number.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
some states will provide look up. i'm not at all familiar with california (if the car is even still there), but it might be worth a chance to see if it is still listed in their registry.
Google the VIN. You may come up with something if it has been entered into the Corvette registry of if it is one the market.
I googled the VIN. It came up with the dealership in Waterbury CT and said the car is sold. No other information was available.
I'm wondering if the last part of the vin is the sequence number of the cars made up to my car. The last part of 3920. I'm wondering if this means mine was number 3920 for the 2013 model run? If so, there were a lot of orders because of the discontinuation of the 427 Z06 platform?

Unfortunately, those sites, I think, only go up to the 3rd gen Corvettes. Mine is the last of the 6th generation....as a matter of fact, I just picked it up yesterday morning at the dealer....

I'm sorry. I misunderstood you. I thought you were hunting down your old BB.
Looks like my sequence number is: 103920, which is telling me there were a WHOLE bunch of orders for my type Corvette. Last couple of years, the production numbers were well under 1000 for each year. I guess the word is out that the 427 engine will be history and folks wanted to get one before it's axed. Including me. No wonder it took extra time to get mine built....But, glad it helped keep the good folks at the BG KY plant busy

Post in the C6 Forum. Those folks can probably decipher your VIN. This thread concerns a '68.
