Default 68 frame

Can anyone tell me what year model frames will fit under my 68 convertible. Its an automatic and im pretty sure the frame is history. I would like to do a frame swap with out spending a arm and leg.

68 to 72 will fit as will a 73 but the body mount height is a little different, IIRC the 68 didn't have the braces on the kickups.

I thought the braces were added in late '68. Can anyone confirm?

If you look at the AIM specs of the 72 vs 73 frames the body mount height difference is insignificant - something like 1/8". I replaced my 72 frame with a 73 frame and the only problem I found was the front bumper bracket mounting holes were different. IIRC I had to elongate a couple holes on the brackets and drill 1 new hole to get everything to fit.

If you search around there is a post that has a reference to a website with frame specs for all C3 years.

Thanks : I found some good specs online , and may have found a good donor car . It's a 68 convertible as well the only difference is it a manual. I don't know but thought there was a difference in the cross member at the transmission . Would this manual frame work on my automatic?

No, not without doing more work than you want to do. The crossmember for manual transmission cars is welded in.
