Why not look for a car in Canada? No additional fees to worry about and you could probably see the car before purchase.

You should have known, up front, what the shipping costs were before bidding. You are an ebay sellers nightmare.

One thing I noticed about this car from looking at the pictures is that the red line on the tach appears to be 5500 RPM. I freely admit I don't know the 71 and 72 cars as well as the 70, but one of the defining characteristics of the 70 LT-1 is its 6500 RPM red line. Usually one of the things that gets forgotten when an LT-1 clone is being made is the fact that the tach is very different (due to the LT-1's solid lifters, etc.). Maybe the tach was replaced at some point with the incorrect part, or maybe the car is a base model small block.

I think that the 5600 rpm IS correct for the 1972 LT-1 with A/C.
something to keep the fan from belts coming off the pulleys at the higher 6500 redline

Actually found this thread not long after my post above...looks like the 5500 is correct for 1972:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...r-spotted.html

That might be a good candidate for a restoration...not many 72 LT-1s with AC rolling around.

Unbelievable. What made you think it would be that much cheaper to ship from Tennessee to Canada, than from Oregon to Canada? I told you my quote was around $2000-2500 from Oregon to Ontario, just last month when you were looking at my LT-1 for sale.

Default 72 lt1

The 72 LT1 with air had a lower redline due to the belt coming of when it was revved high.

Does anyone know where there is some other LT1's for sale

72 LT1 tachs with AC redline at 5600.. non AC LT1's redline at 6500.. all years.. if the car is a 5500 redline, it is wrong and is an aftermarket. hard to tell with that blurry pic.

any 72 LT1 with air is worth 18K unless there is a show stopper.. title issues, rust, NOM. if I was looking, and the car was legit.. I would jump on it. but that is the big question.. is it legit... with bidding only to 18K I am very suspicious and would ask some hard questions to the seller.. and if I don't get good answers, then walk.

this type if car is not for rookies or dreamers. it is not for those that have their eyes glaze over when they see its potential and then comes crashing down when the time comes to pay the deposit or pull the trigger on the cash.

when you back out of a winning bid for any reason other than seller misrepresentation, the least you should do is offer a sincere apology to the seller for all the effort he has to do to relist the car. And you should probably reimburse him for his costs.

Car is relisted.

Car appears to be real, and decent shape, although kinda ragged.

Excellent buy for somebody.

Warbonnet yellow/black, LT-1, air, docs, weight sticker, great potential.

I would be happy to take a closer look at this one for anyone serious about it, just send me a PM. I know where it's currently located, just haven't stopped to look myself.

Default Hmmm, its back!

Lets see, I think I saw another 72 LT1 with a/c on ebay for $45K. Of course it has not sold yet and well may not.

If you paid $18 for this one and put another $20K in it (which would be very easy to do ), you would be in the ball park???? (assuming another market downturn is not right around the corner???)

Timing is everything.

That car has a 65K potential.

Real profit is made at the time of purchase. Buy it for tomorrow.
Having said that, the car needs to be thoroughly examined by someone very familiar with LT-1 a/c cars.

Right now, the market is soft,...however, give it a few years and, hopefully, planning and investment will pay a big dividend.

Check out this thread dated May '07.

I have a 72 and just completed NCRS judging for the 2nd time achieving 2nd flight following a year of restoration. Looking through the pics of that car, I would offer this:

- do not get hung up on the LT1 part of the equation....focus on the whole car not, not the solid lifters

- that car has a lot of original luster - but restoration is needed on that car to achieve max value.

- that car needs paint, mechanical, interior work, chassis restoration and who knows what works operationally... You could be in a world of hurt financially if you don't know what to look for.

- 1700 shipping is the least of your concerns on that car.

- at $15, you would still need to drop at least $15 on it. And then it's worth about that total amount. Where's the deal?

If you love the color etc, that's one thing... But that car needs work

Hi,
My understanding is that War Bonnet cars are becoming, and will continue to become, rarer and rarer.
A wealthy owner, with a soft spot for 'orphans', is buying ALL the wb cars he can, (and hiding them), in order that they not sit unsold in people's driveways, fields, and sheds, year after year.
At the same time he is developing glasses for everyone else to wear so we too can appreciate this fine color.
Regards,
Alan

Only a devine intervention kept this one from becoming another "out of public view" cars sent to the orphanage! Oh, the glasses will have you see only RED!
