Does this trim tag look original? The car is black with black leather interior. It was repainted black about 20 years ago...this is the only photo I have until I inspect the car in two weeks. Thanks
I don't have info on the 'codes' to know that the colors are correct. But, the tag and rivets look to be original from that photo. If the codes don't match the actual colors of the car (ext. / int.), the paint and interior color may have been changed. (But, from what I can see, I don't think the tag has been altered or replaced.)
Hi ba,
There are people who are very knowledgable about Trim Tags in addition to Engine Pads and Engine and Vin Derivative stamps.
Depending on the car and it's documentation you might consider having a knowledgable person look at it.
Regards,
Alan
a 900 code with 402 black leather is probably the highest motivation out there to be faked.
the C2 trim tags actually have a methodology to sleuth their authenticity. The C3 tags are much less so and are much easier faked and can fool the greater number of people.
if you ( or your knowledgeable inspector ) look hard enough during your inspection you may find the original color under a bolt/bracket/plate/overspray etc...
hopefully, it is black.
