This is aimed mostly for Alan, someone asks for a picture of something and Alan has it.
What program do you use to sort/find certain pictures.
I work on computers, each machine gets pictures of the repairs, power supply/fans or what ever. I have that sorted by a database by month, i can handle that part.
Its my personal/corvette pictures that has me searching for stuff, it has gotten way out of control.
I need a better way to sort/find stuff.
I am open to all suggestions

Reason: I cant spell
Hi Mod75,
I have all my pictures (about 3000 now) stored on my Mac and backed up on my pc. I don't know how to do that so someone at my wife's school does it for me.
I also have all the pictures on PhotoBucket. They are divided into albums based on the 5 NCRS Judging Sections.... Operations, Interior, Exterior, Mechanical and Chassis. I also have albums for individual events I've attended where I've taken pictures. (150 pictures of the LS-6 chassis and running gear at the Novi NCRS Convention for example)
I continue to take pictures and add them to existing albums if someone asks a question that I can answer with a picture that I don't have, but can take, without taking too much of my car apart to see it.
The pictures are in the album by date taken.... newest first.
For some reason I can remember what pictures I have and about when I
took the picture. I don't know why but I can usually find any picture in about 15 seconds... not as fast as a google search. Somehow, (Rainman?), I immediately know if I have the picture or not?!?
I give all pictures titles because I thought I would search by title, but that doesn't work for me... often I can't remember exactly what title I gave a
picture but I can remember the picture.
I think I've posted about 1000 different pictures and probably about 150 on a regular basis. (People ask the same questions!)
If I can help you... ask away!
Regards,
Alan
I too have all my pics, (approximately 16 gigs) on an external drive. All these are divided into various folders; Exterior Shots, Suspension, Component Repairs, etc.
Only take a couple of moments to find what I'm looking for.

Find a system which works for you. I keep all my pics on my personal PC and only upload copies to the various photo sites. I use My Pictures only as a temporary holding folder for downloads and saves, then move those items to a specific Corvette folder I created under my user profile.

Let's say Savant versus Rainman!!! You are amazing and we all appreciate the advice you provide... The tremendous level of detail you've achieved is where most of us want to get whether we are striving for originality or highly modified... Detail is detail, and you are the master!!!
I can see an Alan's 1971 corvette restoration guide book in your future Alan. Maybe not on the best seller list, but with all the pictures and your NCRS knowledge i think you could turn a profit.?
Alan could just set up a sales/display booth at NCRS [related] car shows and sell CD's/DVD's with various photo groups. I'm sure he would get plenty of business.
