72 Advice Requested
This '72 Ontario Orange car is what I've been looking for. It's supposed to be rust free. The clock is the only thing that doesn't work. It sounds pretty decent. The problem is I'm 1000 miles away. I've bought cars from a long distance before, but never without seeing them first. This time, I just can't get there. What are your thoughts/advice?
Edit to add - I've been eying this one off for a month now, i just dont have the cash at the moment, and i'm in Australia is a bit of a setback...The cars garbage, stay away....
The car looks very nice in the pictures.
I noticed it has an NCRS plate on it. I'd immediately ask if the dealer knows if the car has been Flight Judged. If it has are the judging sheets available. That would give you 8 Corvette people's view of the car on a particular day.
There are lot's of Corvette people in Florida so I think if you asked you may find someone to take a look at it for you.
How much is it?
Regards,
Alan
ed. I just went to the site and saw the description. I'd ask to be sent copies of the judging sheets. Also for pictures of the chassis and engine pad.

I looked further and see the Certificate. 1997!
I'd be curious where the car has been, and what it's been doing since then.
Might well be a nice car for that $$.

Alan
What are you looking for in a Corvette?

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
The car was judged at the annual NCRS Delaware Valley Chapter meet, in Jenkintown, PA. I regularly judged at that meet, and usually judged cars from the 70's.
I don't think it's a bad car, from looking at the pictures. It has the wrong radio, and the console is missing the wood grain trim, that would have come with the leather interior. The door panels have those ugly arm rest repair covers on them. Overall, the interior looks okay, but is beginning to show some age. It's hard to tell, but it looks like it may have the wrong antenna too.
Under the hood, the water pump is a service replacement unit and the label on the compressor, is completely wrong. The engine compartment and underside, are both clean, but far from detailed.
It looks like a nice car, but then again, I like Ontario Orange. Not having power brakes, isn't a big deal, as most cars still didn't have them in 72. As a car for sale by a dealer, the price is probably in line. From looking at the pics and video though, I don't know if it could score a Second Flight today.
Like so many of these old Corvettes, it has gotten around. The paper indicates that it was sold new in Indiana. In the late 90's the car was somewhere around the Philadelphia area, or at least NY, NJ, PA, DE area. Today the car is in Florida, for sale at a dealer.
I don't recall that particular car, but I could have judged it.
