I just purchased this Monza Red 350/350hp, 4 speed, factory A/C, PS, tilt/tele, two tops, with alarm and special rear axle. This is my first C3. I am familiar with straight axles and midyears not with this car. Some forum members have already been very helpful with information. Take a look at the pictures and feel free to make any comments. Some things I might already know about but I am anxious to learn more. The previous owner owned the car since 1983 and provided me with ownership history back to new. The car was sold at Aero Chevrolet in Old town Alexandria Virginia.
Hi djd,
Well!
That looks like quite a nice find!
It appears to still have lots of it's original parts still in attendance which is becoming quite rare these days!
Good Luck! I hope you enjoy getting to know it!
Regards,
Alan
All I can say is WOW. That is a nice looking convertible. Red with black interior is one of the classic combinations I think. And a 4 speed . You have a nice classic there.

Congratulations on a beautiful convertible Looks great with the hard top. I'm also a mid year and solid axle guy but really enjoy the early C3's. You got yourself what looks to be a nice, unmolested car
Sweet Ride. 350/350 4 speed makes for a great driver. Factory AC in texas must have been one of your requirements.
Is that possibly the original lacquer?
Gary
Thanks guys for all of the nice comments. I am looking forward to getting familiar with it and learning as much as possible. One day I hope I feel like I will know it as well as straight axles and midyears.
Yes factory A/C was an absolute requirement. It will need a little work but it is all there and trying to work.
The car has one repaint in 2009. The PO told me that it is single stage because he wanted to make it look as close as possible to the original lacquer. He was very careful and saved as much original paint as he could like under the decklid and under the door sill plates and most of the door jambs.
He owned the car for 30 years but put very few miles on it in that time. It was pretty much a time capsule until 2009. He took the original seat covers off and the original carpet out just to save them. They were very good originals and thankfully he did keep them and now I have them. They are good enough to put back in the car. The door panels are still original.
Hi djd,
I just read your later comments.
If that's the original driver's-side door panel, it makes me VERY jealous. The driver's-side panel generally got the most wear... that one looks terrific!!!!
Maybe some white letter or black walls instead of the white stripes... just maybe?

Alan

Hello Alan,
Yes according to the PO both door panels are original. You can see very minor wear on them and since I have the original seat covers dated March 20th, 1970 and based on the condition of them I would believe that the door panels are also original. I agree white letter T/A's will be put on the car in the future.
Thanks everyone for the nice comments. This one is the one that I have been looking for and I plan to keep.
Great looking car, Jay. Looks like you've got another winner.
Thanks Dan. It almost did not happen. It was very difficult to put this sale together. I only found three 350/350hp air convertibles for sale anywhere and this was the best of the three but it was also the most expensive of them. I knew when I was looking for a very specific car that it would not be easy or cheap. I plan on enjoying it with my Son.
Very nice car!
I'm not much on the color, but I am all about an L46!
You did well!
I like red but I agree with you that I love the L46. I was looking for a very specific car and I knew that I would not have the option to choose the color most likely when I found it. My Son would have loved a blue car but I just could not find it in blue. If someone has one in blue exactly like this and you want to sell it please let me know.
Looks like you will be to busy mowing that lawn, no time to learn about that car
It's very nice looking, and cool to get history with it
Scratch you are right about the grass, It certainly cuts (get the pun) into my corvette time. I plan on doing something about that someday but then that will cut (pun again) into my cash flow that I could be spending on the car. Dilemma, Dilemma what to do.
