Doorgunner - First let me thank you for your service and sacrifice, with it's ongoing effects. Your sacrifice has made my freedom to enjoy my car projects possible. I truly appreciate your openness and honesty as you deal with day to day life and the struggles you face. I trust it is an encouragement to others as well. I did not have the privilege of serving, as I graduated in '79 when they were looking for reasons not to take people in as they downsized. My flat feet kept me out. However, today my flat-footed son is at FT Lee, VA finishing his AIT for a MOS of Small arms repair. I am the inly member of my family that didn't serve in the military so I really feel at odds myself. I am thankful to be able to serve our community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, and to have served as a foreign missionary in Cuzco, Peru for 9 years. I just started reading your posts and am currently at page 17. I will catch up little by little. I am glad to see you using used parts, a rattle can paint job and so much by yourself. I am sure I will glean much from you and others as I work on my project - Giddyup Go Daddy's Vette - a 1968 basket case. You encourage me to go on and get out there and do something. Blessings on you. Will be tagging other member's pages as well. Thanks again!
Doorgunner - First let me thank you for your service and sacrifice, with it's ongoing effects. along in memory of those soldiers who were killed in that forsaken place. Your sacrifice has made my freedom to enjoy my car projects possible. Andy.....thanks, but I have to pass it along to those who were killed in that forsaken land/they didn't deserve what happened to them. I truly appreciate your openness and honesty as you deal with day to day life and the struggles you face. I trust it is an encouragement to others as well. I don't want it to seem like a whining session when I talk about the bad days....I just want people to understand that there is a lifelong effect on men and women who participate in defending their Country/it actually hurts one's soul to kill another human, even when they are your enemy. FYI....DO NOT FEEL BADLY FOR ONE MORE MINUTE about NOT having to serve....I thank God (having been an atheist) for every man who did not have to "go"....there is no benefit to our society to have ONE MORE person of that era feeling condemned/living in emotional pain for being spared (I deal with survivor guilt). I am thankful to be able to serve our community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, and to have served as a foreign missionary in Cuzco, Peru for 9 years. THERE Ya' go.....Why have to kill, when you can give humanity a second chance in other ways! I just started reading your posts and am currently at page 17. I will catch up little by little. I am glad to see you using used parts, a rattle can paint job and so much by yourself. LoL....I am hoping the rattle-can paint turns into the real thing in a few months I am sure I will glean much from you and others as I work on my project - Giddyup Go Daddy's Vette - a 1968 basket case. You encourage me to go on and get out there and do something. Blessings on you. Thanks....I need all the help I can get! Will be tagging other member's pages as well. Thanks again!
Now.....if I can get up the nerve to "get itchy" and fit that "nose insert" onto the leading edge of the grill area!

Update: no car news today.......we spent the day with father-in-law at the clinic.....good news is that his leg is much better/bad news is his other leg is losing feeling----he'll have to have surgery this Thursday!

Thanks R and lowbuck. The surgeon is highly skilled...it's just not good to give an 88 year old man anesthesia...we'll hope for the best.
About the rain....it's still raining but not as hard....it's giving me time to do all the cutting/trimming and fitting of the fiberglass parts that need installing.
I have a few scary pics to post about fitting the nose insert against the chrome bumper......all the "stuff" on the chrome bumper is only adhesive from taping the bumper to the insert so many times this week...LOL......
The driver-side fiberglass needed heating with the gun in several places/then C-clamping to hold the insert in place while it cooled off....
The passenger-side fiberglass.....not so good......I had to notch the center of the fiberglass insert to get the insert close to the "V" in the bumper.......then I heated all along the insert and held it in place with C-clamps as I went along........for some reason the fiberglass was an inch short of fitting into the curve of the bumper----I had to cut the fiberglass curve loose to fit it where it belonged----I will fill in the gap later on ...........

Thanks you guys, sorry Gunner not trying to hi-jack your thread but here's a pic of my wife and her dad. I liked him a lot he was a farmer and self taught mechanic, we all miss him.

You aren't hijacking.
I was going to ask about him and what might have caused it, but I knew it wasn't the right time. Thanks for posting their pic. Your wife is going to need months just to begin the process of coming to terms with this tragedy.
End stages of Alzheimers, he wasted away to nothing. Late last night her and her sister praying over him he just let go.
Jr73 - Sorry for the pain you and your wife are going through in these hours. I will include you in my prayers tonight. At least it sounds like he went peacefully.
