Thanks RR on behalf of jr73 and also on behalf of my wife.

I will try to get into the garage today since tomorrow is filled with lab tests at 5 a.m. and surgery beginning at 7 a.m. for my father-in-law/then 4 hours in recovery/then hospital stay until he is "out of the woods".

I already rough-fitted the driver's side fiberglass insert that derekderek made..........

Now I need to cut out existing fiberglass on the passenger's side to rough-fit the fiberglass insert into place......

I will make a template of the part of the insert that "wraps around" the driver-side fender/then trim the passenger-side insert wrap-around to match the template.

Then I will make a template of the elongated notch that I already cut into the driver-side fender/then use the template to cut the notch into the passenger-side fender........

I am still trying to understand why I had to cut off the radius-end of the fiberglass insert in order for it to fit behind the chrome bumper correctly.

I triple-checked the chrome bumper measurements from the "V" to the radius on each end.....the left-side and the right-side lengths are within 1/8" of each other.

The next guess I would make is......for some reason the fiberglass insert shrank on the passenger-side of the insert......which is causing the 3/4" wide gap.

There is the outside chance that the mold shrank on one end.

Maybe the front end that he used to make the mold is not symmetrical for some reason?

It's no big deal....I just didn't want derek to have the same problem when he makes his fiberglass insert if he can locate where the problem originated.

Well......back to the garage to notch the passenger fender to fit the wrap-around insert that I trimmed today.

The passenger side fender is scribed and notched for the fiberglass insert......

The insert wrap-around is test fitted to the fender............

The insert piece is taped inside the chrome bumper and also test fitted to the fender..............

The long section of the insert is rough-trimmed and test fitted........

Hey DG, don't worry so much. When all is said and done, I'll bet your panel fitment will be better than that quality control that came out of the factory back in '68.

Thanks Men........I would "just be tickled" if this BORN1968 car looks like a '68 when I'm done!

ok, the gap. i sent 2 extra side pieces. you should be able to use an inch or so off one of them to fill the gap... and it already looks like it was born in 68.

Since I'm having trouble going to sleep tonight (again) I have something to get off my chest.....again........this year.

Today is my son's birthday, so my wife, daughters, and relatives all met to be with him on his birthday...................at the cemetery.

My son was murdered by an Illegal Mexican who previously evaded extradition three different times because of violent behavior/arrests in our Country.

I understand the true meaning of "Kate's Law". It is not designed to punish millions of hard-working migrants. It is designed to weed out violent offenders who NEVER should have been allowed into our Country in the first place.

Consider that, in the last 15 years 30,000 Americans have been either murdered, or raped, or pedophiled, or maimed, or robbed by "animals" who never should have entered our borders.

Being a combat veteran, my PTSD/Depression is multiplied by the fact that I was ordered to fight and kill to protect our Constitution....but my own Government could not nor would not protect my child or the children of other Americans by enforcing laws that are already on the books.

In 20 days we will spend another afternoon with my son......at his gravesight......he was killed 20 days after his 20th birthday

I will wake up tomorrow.....whether I want to or not.....and continue living what is left of my life.....I will work on my car without him.

Thanks Members......for lending an ear.
