While the paint is drying I may as well post the repair pics......
The column is assembled/bolted to the firewall/the two halves are rotated and lined up with the dash mounting bracket and marked with tape........when I left go of the column to take the picture the two halves turned---good thing I put the alignment tape in place earlier..........
The wire cage halves are matched up and welded together.......
The welds are ground down...........................
A thick coat of paint is put on...................
Now I have to drive about 1.5 hours to pick up the repaired door/compartment locks.....may as well eat dinner while I'm there!
I bet you are glad you got the steering wheel out of the way. Nice fix. The top looks nice and the hood looks awesome. Can you send some of that 80 degree temps up to Va. The dashboard wiring looks sOOO intimidating to me. I am not very good at wiring but I will have to learn fast I guess. Good job DG.

"80 degrees! You can't handle 80 degrees!"
Thanks R! And wiring is bad enough without mixing A.D.D. into it....that's why the floorboard is such a mess!
Well.....with wiring it would be a mess anyway...but an organized mess.
Time to drag my chest & sinus-congested-coughing/hacking self into the garage and re-organize the workbench and the floorboard....since the monsoons are starting again!
"Welcome to the Reverse-RVZIO Thread!"

Roughing-in the alarm/remote-start module...the siren is staying high and dry under the dash/being a convertible, the siren will be plenty loud with the top up.......I decided not to cut the extra wiring/instead bundle it in case I need to relocate the kit.....
I hated to close that squirrel opening behind the alarm fuses....they did such a neat job of chewing into the air box to store their 2 gallons of acorns.
(oooooops......I noticed the accelerator kickdown switch is not connected while putting the alarm harness in place......add that repair to the list before re-installing the dash.

RATS! This upper-respiratory garbage that has been going around the last couple weeks SUCKS! Thinking is impossible/wiring is worse!
It got started two days ago while I was trying to wrap up the dash wiring. 5 hours of re-wiring the alarm system today because of yesterday's goof-ups......I'm worn out!
I did manage to get the pager to beep when arming/beep twice when disarming/parking lights flash correctly.....
BUT.............
when the system is armed, there is no siren when I open the door(s)....
time to take a bottle of OTC Cold/Flu/Allergy/Etc., then some liquids/tablets/capsules so I can re-read the programming directions for the 7th time
Please cover your keyboard when you cough, i don't want to catch it.
That doesn't work! I called my brother-in-law to see how he was surviving with the CRUD........I GOT SICK 24 HOURS LATER!

My father gave me that "blend" in 1963.....I stumbled to my bed and woke up WELL the next morning!
I tried to re-re-program the alarm system.....the siren wouldn't sound when I opened the doors, but it went bizerk when I tried to start the engine...........
seems as though these are sticking open....... ..........

WHY.......let me drag myself into the garage right now and take a couple!
Pardon the fresh layer of dust, Spring pollen, and cluttered garage walls..........
LOL........notice the oil pressure "overflow jug" on the windshield......it's connected by 3 feet of vacuum hose to the gauge fitting...in case I need to start the engine while the dash is out----me/the interior and the garage walls won't get sprayed with engine oil!
I think I will have the doors painted next so the car will have that "two-tone look"!

I have a new saying now:
RVZIO's build thread is about "How to do it RIGHT".
DOORGUNNER'S build thread is about "How to do it".....RIGHT?
Doorgunner...
I found a acid dipper ! HTC Metals in Dodson, La. He will have a tank large enough to dip our frames in a week or two. I have his price sheet on my thread about dippers in the southeast.
