Is that because -40°F and -40°C is the same temperature?

Tried a spot sandblaster but after 3 cans of sand it hadn't removed any paint! Looks like I'm going to have to tough it out with little pieces of sandpaper using my forefinger.

Then there's the dropping Canadian dollar. When I did my original budget it was at .80 cents U.S., last I heard (I'm afraid to look since) it was at .68 cents U.S. and some people are predicting it'll drop to .59 cents U.S. by the end of the year. I originally had $15000 CDN in my budget but now I'm wondering if I should scrap the project as my $15000 CDN may not be enough to complete the job. At .59 cents U.S. I estimate all the parts I need will cost $15000 CDN but that leaves nothing for supplies and paint. I also have to scratch the idea of changing the interior colour and converting the engine to fuel injection.

I find it hard to believe you need a tech for your heat Gunner. Whats up?

Save your finger! I already tried it.....IF I can work on the car this week I'll try using my 30 gallon compressor and my self-contained 1 quart media gun using some Home Depot Playground sand/I'll have to experiment with the pressure so I don't ruin the fiberglass--I'll post some pics if it removes the paint.

As for the cost---I managed to buy everything over the last 18 months----I think the total was less than $2,000 for very nice daily driver chrome and fiberglass (front and rear).

Suggestion----I hate to see your chrome bumper conversion stop (I know the feeling just having to postpone my resto until the PTSD slacks off!)
Hang in there and concentrate on preparing the fiberglass for painting. In the meantime maybe you will find some good deals on body parts that you haven't acquired yet.

Does the engine run well enough to concentrate on the crome and postpone the F/I?

I am sure that he has a heat pump for heat, like I do in Myrtle Beach. That is why he needs a tech.
Priya, you really are a hearty soul to take that kind of cold weather.
I have never liked the cold. I had to work outside as a pipefitter for 7 1/2 years and then in maintenance at our MTD plant in Parma,(Cleveland) Ohio for 34 years, until they closed it in 2007. The crazy tow motor drivers would try to beat the large garage doors coming down and end up driving right through them! We had so many exhaust fans for all of our welding machines, and welding robots, that any opening in winter was like a wind tunnel.
I have had five operations on my one flat foot and the one where they put in a wedge of cadaver bone really hurts when it gets cold. One of the main reasons that I moved from Cleveland, OH to Myrtle Beach, SC, in 2008. Lou.
Oh, I am glad that you do not talk that way!

Yes, the engine runs pretty well, so the F/I is not something that needs to be done.

I based my budgeting on all new parts so if I can get some parts used such as all the bumper brackets (est $1900 CDN new) and complete bumper assemblies & grills, etc. (est $3000 CDN new) I can maybe still do it. I really missed out on a 69 front clip in Ontario complete with bumpers, grills, fender louvers, brackets, etc in claimed excellent condition for only $2000 CDN (estimated cost of new parts $6700 CDN and I estimated 50% of the cost of parts for shipping costs) but my inheritance cash doesn't come in until the end of Feb. so I wasn't able to act on it. The owner said the first person that came and looked at it snapped it up, no surprise there.

I'm hoping for the best for you dealing with your PTSD. I'm not the most motivated person in the world and its often hard for me to get out in the garage but one trick that helped for me was to force myself to go out to the garage even when I didn't feel like it and tell myself I'd do something, even if I only worked on it for five minutes. Sometimes I was only out there for five minutes, sometimes an hour or two. My theory was "If I keep working at it no matter how little I do I'll eventually get it done". Took me four years to do my Eagle but I got it done.

It's electric heating coils/3 elements/3 relays/3 limit switches/3 thermal fuses/6 jumpers between relays/15 wires in the harness/NO WIRING DIAGRAM provided for the assembly

That saying worked for me during the first two weeks of October!

BUT........things went downhill FAST after that.............

You'd be surprised at how much I can get WRONG in 5 minutes.....that's why in late October I realized it was best for the project if I waited until I felt competent.........

No ptsd Gunner would have taken care of with a pair of alligator clips.
Good luck
