Wow, I was away from the forum for a weekend and I missed a lot! I have not lost anyone so close to me (my son is only 2 right now) but I cannot imagine how I would feel. It has to be the worst feeling in the world. I will pray for all of you to find some comfort over time, and that you find some happiness in the thought that one day you will be reunited with them in a world without sin and corruption!

Thanks Kubs for the Eternal Encouragement.
Since the winter rain showers are hitting south Louisiana I've been in the CF Politics/Religion/Controversy Forum......never dull there!
ALSO.....I haven't enclosed my mother-in-law's 60 year old carport yet....so I'm not in a rush to work on the damp concrete after working in enclosed garages since '78.
Happy Thanksgiving DG et al. Keep looking at the sunny side.
LOL......sunny side.....O.K. Here goes!
I married right after returning from Viet Nam. I told my bride because of combat I had trouble remembering things.
She said "No problem...My Birthday is on Thanksgiving". So, at the Thanksgiving table at her parent's home I handed her the present (I remembered!). She was so happy!.
A year later......the week of Thanksgiving....She won't talk to me! Thanksgiving Day I give her a present....she still won't talk!
I finally get her to tell me what's wrong....She says "MY BIRTHDAY WAS 4 DAYS AGO!"
I say "NO IT WASN'T.....TODAY IS THANKSGIVING....TODAY IS YOUR BIRTHDAY "
She yells "IT WAS ON THE 24TH.....LAST YEAR THE 24TH WAS ON THANKSGIVING DAY!"
Sometimes you just can't "make points"......You can only lose them!"
GUESS WHAT? (42 years later)......... TODAY IS HER BIRTHDAY.....NOVEMBER 24TH...........ON THANKSGIVING....JUST LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE!
now......where did I hide that present?

ANYHOW.................................. ..
Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, eat as much as you can........
Yeah; after the hole saw, I took out the die grinder (my favorite tool)
You members saved me some work when you were discussing the rear crossbar.....rookie me didn't realize/didn't need the strap holes.
The last week has been "off-track" with family events.....I'm hoping to straighten the slightly bent (1/2" driver/3/4" passenger) rear frame rails tomorrow.
O.K. Less drama/more action. I found the energy to get under the car and work on the bent rear frame rails after removing the rear crossmember and fabricating a heavy duty crossmember.
I rechecked the bend in the driver's side rear rail.....yep/bent outboard over 1/2". I used a heavy duty ratchet strap attached to both rails to pull the driver rail inboard..............
BEFORE....about 14" of the rail was pushed outboard.................
AFTER....................
After "pulling" the rail inboard after several attempts it is within 1/16" of being flat/true with the forward part of the frame which is above the half-shafts.................

PART II......Passenger's side rear frame rail is bent inboard nearly an inch. This rail seems to have taken the "Hit" from a previous rear-end collision.
The white straightedge shows how much bend the rail has....the INBOARD edge of the frame rail should be even with the OUTBOARD edge of the white straightedge...........
The tape measure shows that the frame rail needs to be "pushed outboard" at least 3/4"-7/8" for the rail to be straight again...........
This view is looking up at the underside of the passenger frame rail.....there is a "nice bend" inboard that can be easily seen (the large black fiberglass piece that is to the left of the rail is the "extended cargo floor"..................
Time for some lunch......then I will "square up" the end of the crimped rail before I begin straightening it.
I feel your pain about working outside. Granted the Vette is in the garage, with another car, so when a daily needs work Im stuck doing it in the drive way if both projects are in a not running state.

Thanks Men. I did more work on the passenger frame rail today/straightened it out. Then I ran out of Mig wire and am on the road to buy some now. I'll try to post ppppppics of today's work in an hour or two.
The new heavy duty rear crossmember has been drilled and nuts welded in place/slots cut to size/etc......................
The rear end of passenger's frame rail BEFORE straightening the crunched end...............
After straightening the crunch.............(the piece of rectangular tube below the frame rail is for a 3" measurement to make sure the rail is level with the driver frame rail)................................... .....
The frame rails are 43 & 7/8"apart........I will pull the passenger rail Inboard 1/8" to get the 43 & 3/4" frame measurement before I weld the crossmember in place.......
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
