I've been "laying low" on the build this week. We've been at the doctors with my father-in-law every day this week dealing with what we thought was a possible case of pneumonia.
WE were shocked to find out he has stage 4 lung cancer.....we had to tell him the bad news tonight that there is no medical treatment that can be done because of his age and the pacemaker he now has. It was a rough 5 hours.
It's a good thing my PTSD has slacked off......I will be able to helps as much as possible while my wife, her two sisters aand brother help my mother-in-law make necessary plans.
(But....we're not giving up.....God has the final word on this situation)

My mother had cancer and we just never lost hope. She was always very optimistic, happy, but I knew there were bad times for her too and she wouldn't let us know. Can be an emotional roller coaster, for sure, just think it's important to have faith and keep going, not stopping until its just plain impossible. Seems like everyone would be better off not thinking about the bad things, leaves more good things to think.

Thanks a lot Members.....the doctor will try to knock out the initial chest congestion so he will feel physically better....then we will deal with the psychological part.
I will try to knock out a few things on the car between doctor visits.
Tony,
I was praying for you and the father-in-law already and now just saw the report about his cancer. Just want you to know I will continue to pray. You are right, God has the final answer. My request will be for grace and strength for all. Give a shout if I can help in any way.

Will do......we are waiting for official results from the lab.
(On a side note: A relative of ours was given the "Last Rites" late one night at the hospital because of lung cancer......the next morning she woke up asking for a full breakfast.....the doctors could find no cancer and she continued to be healthy to an old age. On the other hand, my son-in-law lost his battle with cancer at the age of 37. Optimism is the best way to handle it)
Things settled down today so while I was at it...............
I spent a couple hours repairing some cracked fiberglass next to the hood hinge/fender support and around the outer bumper brace.................
I will let it cure overnight before I put a couple layers of cloth on the back side of the inner fender panel.....then I will trim the edges and the opening around the bumper brace.

Thanks for the encouragement Men......I did some welding/repair/wir-brushing to the metal support that fits vertically inside the fender well and also fiberglased all the cracked areas.....I will grind away the excess fiverglass that overlaps dirty areas and smooth out/paint the finished fiberglass. Here are a few pics of some sloppy but stout work..........

Doorgunners don't "kiss and make up" ...........................
Temporary Cease Fire would be more appropriate.....we spent a great day with my father-in-law and mother-in-law....the test results confirmed he has stage 4 cancer in both lungs.
I still need to "deburr" the rough edges and openings of the fiberglass repairs.
Bet the wife thinks there are some other rough edges that need deburring! Praying for the father-in-law and rest of family. Keep the cease fire going!

So has your garage been designated as the "no fly zone"
A hug every once in awhile goes far toward peace and harmony. Remember, she's pretty stressed out over her Dad right now.
Take it from an old Master Sergeant; don't say anything, just give her a hug and a peck on the cheek. If nothing else, her brain will be occupied trying to find out what you're up to.

My wife says shoot flowers at her - flowers are a girl's best friend when you can't afford diamonds (and obviously anyone rebuilding a Corvette can NOT afford diamonds!). She also suggested some "smooch therapy". Says it sounds like you may be out of practice. Just passing on the perspective!

For the good news.......I put the vertical fender/support (also holds radiator support in place) into place/cheated and used pop rivets to hold it in position.....then I pushed the 7/16" bolts into place......it's ugly but as usual I went for STOUT..........
I'll "beautify" the wheel wells this winter.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
