No serious work was done today.....but I did manage to shim the #3 body mounts since the driver's door would not close.............
Adding a .150" spacer to the driver-side #3 mount gave an average 1/8" gap between the door and the quarterpanel....close enough for me to adjust the door forward since the front gap is 1/4" wide.
Removing a 1/8" spacer from the passenger-side #3 body mount/then adding a 1/4"spacer to the rear #4 body mount gave the door an average of 1/8" gap at the quarterpanel also........
Taking a measurement at the top of the driver-side spoiler for fun......40 &7/8"...........
Taking a measurement at the top of the passenger-side spoiler for fun...........41&1/16"...........
The rear wheel well arches are within 1/4" of each other now......much better than the inch or more difference before replacing the body mount spacers.
After I shim the #1 and #2 mounts on the passenger-side I should be able to remove some shims from the #4 mount.
As RVZIO says...."Cross one more thing of the TO DO List".
Good job on the gaps Tony. Both sides are good to go? You were lucky, mine took a lot longer to get right with the use of VPA.
Good job!
Happy Easter

The previous owner did a good job on the vertical gaps, but the horizontal gap at the top of the door is 1/2" wide??????????? I guess the 2nd "six-pack" took effect by the time he got to that area....LOL!

This avatar has been used for over a year.....notice the round '68 turn signal lights in the rectangular holes in the grills...LOL...............
I don't think the latest mods would make much sense to members if I made an avatar of the pic below...LOL.........

So.......this brilliant idea hit me this afternoon.....Since I repaired the rusted stress-cracked metal inner fender well brace that also supports the hood hinge on the driver's side...(notice the alignment bolts at my fingertips in the 2nd pic)..........
Surely......in an hour or two I could remove/repair/paint/re-install the passenger-side metal brace..................................W RONG!
Bubba decided to do the repair himself......EVERYTHING is fiberglassed over----even two of the main alignment bolts that hold the brace in place.........
"Ap-parrot-ly......Bubba got a great deal on a 55 gallon drum of Bondo!
EVERY "repair" that I have re-repaired on the car has looked the same....1/2" to 1" of Bondo covering everything in sight.
I will remove all the "Stuff".....then rebuild with fiberglass. I'm glad he didn't "repair" the driver-side hood hinge area.....I will use it as a reference to rebuild the passenger-side area
On a positive note my great father-in-law is doing better emotionally and physically even though more tests show his diagnosis is still the same/terminal/and soon.
We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers---as the doctors have no explanation for him not being confined to a bed at this point

DoorGunner,
I understand about your Father in Law, going through the same thing with mine currently. The doctor walked into the room last Thursday and said "according to these numbers your dead" well he is still here still driving (we limit that to around his house) and has open heart surgery scheduled in two weeks of which he has a 50-50 chance of making it off the table. If he makes it off the table recovery is very optimistic. I will keep praying for yours.

WOW.......our families are feeling the same emotions! Because of situations like ours, for me Heaven has gone from myth to Reality.
The same here with prayers for your father-in-law and family.
Well.....it's official......the PTSD is back in full force (it never entirely leaves).
I don't say this for pity. I say it to let everyone know what some combat veterans go through in their daily lives. It starts without warning.....then the inability to concentrate.....the lack of desire to engage in daily life.....the feeling of uselessness and futility.......trying to fight off the negative feelings until there is no energy left to resist.
There are so many young guys in their 20s/30s/40s/50s who are/will go through the same emotions.....Life is literally robbed from them. I wish there was a cure.
War Sucks!
I will try to do what I can on the project, in the meantime, while we help my father-in-law with his illness.
