I disagree, no disrespect intended, but the original Challenger was a lean sleek musclecar, the new challenger is a slab sided, overweight Hotwheel. The same goes for the old versus new Camaro. Corvettes, however did its ancestors justice. No need to make a big deal of this, it's just my opinion and I respect others who disagree, we're all car guys after all.
Yep, we are all car guys with different tastes, if not we'd all be driving toyotas or ford probes.

My dad who passed in '87, helped make me who I am. Only 3 cars were his passion, '57 Plymouths, '70 Dodge Challengers, and Corvettes. At one time he had 3 Challengers, a 340 RT convertible with a stick, an RT 383, and a Vanishing Point clone which was powered by a slant six (my favorite, next to the '57 Belvedere with a flathead.)
Lowbuck72..............great pic of your Dad having fun in his car!
While I'm getting NOTHING accomplished on my project I may as well go down Memory Lane too...........
Here's some old pics of my '69 Camaro convertible......I previously modified the grill, installed hide-a-way headlights, added a rear spoiler, rear shackle lift kit, and replaced the 3-ohhh-7 with a 350 cu.in...........
Love the Camaro Gunner! I love the Cragars and fats in the back and skinnies on the front! And the hideaway headlights was a classic mod - did it on my '68 as well. Know it is a ton of work to pack up and move - done it way too many times! By the time my wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary we had moved 25 times! This is the longest we have ever been in one place -7 years. A worthwhile and noble move for you. Very difficult to do. Praying for you my friend!
OK DG, nice '69, good memories I'm sure. But I think it's time to go out to the garage and make some more memories. So you can look back years from now and say, that's what the Corvette used to look like...
Thanks Guys....I forgot that I had those pics of the car...YES--it was a blast to drive....even back in the Day I got purchase offers at traffic lights.........but I sold it to my brother/now it's long gone to another owner in Texas
I SHOULD be in the garage.....but....... ........the PTSD and family loss is still hammering on me psychologically.

Our family never had anything that cool (couldn't afford it).
I learned to drive in Mom's 63 Pontiac Catalina Safari. I used to rationalize that it was a GTO with a little extra body. That good old beast became a part of our family until we had to let it go 4 years ago when Mom got Alzheimer's. A very sad day.

Hey DoorGunner
Music always helps me, pick your favorite and just listen inside the house in the garage where ever. And if it does not help you at least listened to some good music.
Have a great day DG, it is very nice here in Illinois sitting at work listening to Chuck Berry Back in the USA.
Keep you fingers crossed I might get my car tomorrow they ran into another problem with stripped bolts when they were doing the alignment.

LOL.....Ilearned in the '63 Pontiac Bonneville....my mother nearly divorced my Dad when he brought that "high-priced overpowered monster" home (Man....would it spin those tires!)

Ponderous? I guess it's one of those "You had to be there" kind of things in order to like the looks of older cars.
I'm still house-bound/no work done in 90 days now
Have you done any work on your deck/tail light mod?

No. I'm trying to get some estimates on painting the 79 as it is and then hopefully make a decision on whether or not I'm going to proceed with the chrome bumper conversion. I recently bought some 68-73 rear bumpers that were advertised as "near mint" but they didn't turn out to be that way.

Rats! I was really hoping we both could get the rear modification completed........yours would have that sharp '73 style if you completed just the "back half".
A couple years ago I bought some nice "daily driver" rear bumpers from a Forum Member....they are very straight, but could use a few hours of polishing.....which I expected.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
