But Blake was murdered by a worthless f&&&&&g Illegal Mexican..... Gunner, I couldn't agree more with your choice of words. If you weren't born here, or in this country LEGALLY (apparently a word that doesn't exist in the Spanish language) then you are a SQUATTER!
Yes....I now it's not politically correct....but I fought for the right to make a fool out of myself occasionally.....hence---the name "doorgunner". SCREW political correctness! PC is nothing more than an abridgment of yours and my constitutional right to speak our minds. Yes, you (WE) fought for that right, and you, sadly, paid a far higher price than I for it. So rant on!
VENT OVER!
MAYBE A TRIP TO GATLINBURG, THEN DOWN TO THE GULF COAST IN THE VETTE WILL MAKE THINGS A LITTLE BETTER.
(Anyone in the Gatlinburg/Chatanooga area??????????)
No, but if you ever get this far down the Gulf Coast, gimme a PM.
DG, that has to be a very deep seated source of suffering and I can't even imagine, the pain and stress it has put you through. If you're driving the '68 around down there, I can only hope you have the tops off, so you can look to the sky and out at the world and honor your memories of Blake.
Something like that, probably never goes away and I admire your tenacity in dealing with it and using Blake's sense of humor here. We love you for that and thank you. You are a special member of the C3 forum here and you have a lot of fans. Keep the shiny side up and let us know, how the rest of your trip goes.
I just checking in.......we've been in Gatlinburg for the last week. I'ts bitter/sad being here though---"kind of a therapy" trip that isn't working well---the last time I was here was with my son Blake---it was our favorite vacation spot...

It's rough when you're a combat veteran...and then a low-life that shouldn't even be in this Country kills your child---makes you feel useless.
VENT OVER!
So .....we're visiting all the favorite spots that Blake liked, but the "therapy" isn't happening and the meds aren't "working"..
I need to get back to the garage and get the kinks out of the Vette...

I live in Pensacola but will be in Gatlinburg the week of Aug.8th. If that is your time plan, it would be great to meet up.

A big thanks to John P. and his great Dad for providing me with a set of '68 black door panels.....because of their help I will be able to completely finish the interior of the car.

Just checking in: After spending a memorial week in the Smokies for my son, Blake, I'm too "down" to do something as simple as install the new tires on the front end of the '68.
A couple more days and the meds should "kick-in".

Hang in there brother, do what you can do and don't sweat the rest
you can get through this, remember the pile of refuse that did this to you wins a second round if you let him destroy you too. you are in my Prayers as that is all i can offer. other than a few kind words.we all endure tragedy in our lives some greater than others, i have survived some in my life too, and that is amazing as i have the intellect of an slightly above average Basset Hound.
I eased into the project after a couple weeks off.....it only took 3 hours to pick up everything I left on/around/under the car before going on vacation.
There are two brand-spanking new daily driver tires on the front end now.....no more bouncing down the highway.......
The "blue" will come off once the cooling system is re-filled, "burped", and the car is backed out for another bath after collecting dust for nearly a month......
Hmmmmm.....that's too much curb-rash on those trim rings...they will need replacing when it's time for new paint.
I may need to trim the inner lip on the fenders which I would not do on an original car, but Bubba won't mind if I alter the LATE 70s front cap that he upgraded to "back in the day"........

That screwdriver that Bubba left under the driver's side hood edge for a decade needs an Anti-Bubba repair to cause the 2" bulge to go away.......
There's nothing like 80 lbs.of grit-blasting sand sitting on the buldge for a day to flatten the bulge.....I have used heat on my '34 streetrod 'glass cab to correct warps in it so----if the hood area tries to "re-bulge" overnight----tomorrow I will use the sand again and put a small heat lamp in the engine bay under the bulge and keep an eye on the hood temp with my infrared gun....(normally I have to "bend" re-enforced fiberglass at 200*F about 1/4" more than needed so that it cools to the correct shape.

Good information I will be looking forward to see how it comes out, I need to bend the nose of my hood down about 1/8"
