It actually helps remove moisture build up on the interior walls of the frame so yes if it is covered or blocked it is bad.

The passenger frame end cap was beginning to rust through.....so while I was at it.....
"UGLY BUT STOUT "
(That's my new motto )
I filled in all the gaps with weld...maybe one day I'll smooth it out.
If you ever want to know how ugly.....spray a coat of Gloss Black on the repair. It's a good thing the patch is .200" thick.
Now I can fiberglass the access panels back into place.

You guys keep me on my toes! It has about 2" of clearance.
IF I finish the interior, couple more frame repairs, reinstall driver side pipe..........
I will remove the engine/TH400 assembly so I can .........
clean up the firewall and engine bay.....
clean-bead blast-repaint the engine and the TH400.
Maybe by then I will have the 4L60E completed.

Before you get to doing all that, why not get it out and just drive it around for a spell? Enjoy thte fruit of all your hard work thus far. Then goback in and finish it off with the updates?

A.T. That makes sense.
Here is my problem, though.
I have not finished repairing the front clip. It would be easier to clean/repair/paint the engine bay before I re-bond the front clip.
Remember this ?
BUT.....I COULD postpone the engine repaint and the transmission swap until the winter of 2022 (God willing!)

I would wait until the new trans is ready to put in instead of putting the T400 back for a short time…
