Doorgunner's '68 Convertible Project

wishing you good luck on your test results.

I was using auotzone resin until I got a quart that wouldn't cure. I tried the cloth once but it left too much texture showing through after curing. If I run outof mat in an emergency I use A.Z. mat. The body shop mat seems 50% thicker.
I spilled a tablespoon of the good epoxy adhesive on the garage floor and left it there until the next day. I had to get a hammer and chisel to break it and remove it.
Today is a relax-day...toooo hot to repair any stress cracks in the other fender.

It got too hot in my dust suit so I hosed meself off and stretched the outdoor carpet onto the garage floor to let it flatten out after being folded up for 6 months....(turned on the garage a/c)......
NOW I need to clean out the back half of the garage and hang everything on pegboards already attached to the wall...the Harley is under the biggest lump of carpet.....

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

I'm stilll moving junk so I can lay down more carpet...may as well get the tools picked up and things put where they belong....AGAIN.........
That's the Harley way back on the left side waiting it's turn to be reassembled.......
Center Line for lowering hardtop onto car...........I'm using 3/4" thick by 1" high Hardy-Board strips held in place with deck screw along the walls, but they're not easy to see. As the carpet settles I can loosen the strips and take the slack out of the carpet
The "Nose Camera" will help me center the car on the stripe. I'll need to add a cross-line to stop the car directly under the lifting hook that will hold the hardtop.

pattern for boding strip traced with extra 1&1/4" added....
Poster board curved for taping to fender curve...
The blue painter's tape prevents the fiberglass resin from sticking to the poster board. The fender is pulled away from the body for taping purposes
Maybe I'll get the nerve to remove the fender and start laying layers of fiberglass later today?

FOR EXAMPLE: the pattern is clamped in place...the bonding strip is being built up in stages.....
The inside of the fender...UGLY but it will be stout after more bonding layers are laid tomorrow.....I'll remove the clamps and sand the area so more layers can be added....

So why is your front bumper layinbg on the ground and the side. Of my truck is damaged IF I HIT YOU, LADY!?
LOO-Z-ANNA XRIVERS...I TELL YA"!

My wife said he stayed to interview the wo....errr...person who hit us.
By the time we got home 3 hrs later our insurance informed us she was suing for damages. well that did it for me...i told our agent i was a veteran and was mad about some idiot lying about an accident that was obviously the other driver's fault because of the type of damage done to both vehicles.
BUT...its a different world today as you know...right is wrong and wrong is right.
I'll hold off on the fender modification/my neck hurts and my brain is still reeling from the impact.
I had to grab the steering wheel so hard to keep from hitting cars on the left side of me that I broke open a cut on my thumb that was healing. by the time i pulled off the highway there was blood running down the steering wheel..I told my wife WHY IS THE STEERING WHEEL WET?/then i saw the blood dripping/
....i guess the old heart was pumping about 60 psi

I stayed seated in my truck and let my wife handle things...I didn't want to unload(verbally) on the bitch(no...i'm not sexist...she wasn't a bastard...I think)
Gotta' keep a sense of humor nowadays
Never go by what anyone states at the scene of the collision.
People say things that the evidence at the scene shows otherwise.
It usually takes a few days before the accident report is available to the public.
It should show a sketch of what the officer documented and his or her written statement of the events pursuant to the evidence.
There is usually a clear statement stating the party at fault.
Did you or your wife take pictures at the scene?
The other driver can call your insurance company and say or threaten all she wants, but they will not make any decisions until they get a copy of the officer’s report.
You have insurance and this is what you pay for.
You have nothing to worry about, you’re covered.
