I can't attest to the origin of either expression, but back in the glory days, when Ford (It's OK, down boys) was palying at LeMans with the GT-40, duct tape got the moniker 200 mileanhour tape as it held the bits of a crashed GT-40 together on the Mulsanne Straight at better than 200 mph.
THAT's what we called it in '71....200 m.p.h tape.

raccoon version of possum pie we called it 400 mph tape in 77 using it on A7's. maybe the adhesive was upgraded in the ensuing few years. still, if a helicopter rotor has any kind of damage, duct tape will NOT make it stay attached to the rotor hub. and i think walking-even through a crowd of victor charlie would be a more sensible method of traveling...

It's a highly trained Ankle-gnawing Guard-Raccoon.

That sounds scarier than a raccoon gnawing off the thief's ankle.

True Derek...if the holes were baseball size! We used it mainly to cover bullet holes and small shrapnel holes and hope we made it back to base camp....any larger holes thru a ?rib/spar? required a nature-walk (in our case; always toward the East).

It's too bad duct tape can't fix PTSD

Must have been upgraded since then, in the 90's when I was in and working on Hueys and Cobras it was called 1000-mile-an-hour tape.

In 1971 the Chinook cruised at 200mph (fast for a helicopter back then, 'cept for the Cobra), so the term was fitting for the era.
IMAGINE what they call it today if it was 1000 mph tape in the '90s

Annnnd I did take another look at the tunnel...if I can't get "my act" together....at least I can get my plan together. NOW...where did I put that roll of aluminum sheet

Back to business....kinda'. I spent about 30 minutes in the garage planning the cuts/trimming to straighten out the Gash in the tunnel where the aftermarket Hurst Ratchet/"Hurts Hatchet" shifter pattern was for 8 years (of agony trying to find PRNDL while driving in town)'

I taped off an area that would "clean up the previous gashes" before I temporarily install the aluminum backing on which I will lay new fiberglass mat.

Nasty in there.............but no Mouse House.........

Hey Tony,
Progress is progress.
This weekend, I removed my rear bumpers, only to put them right back on.
So, I guess I made no progress at all.

Yep I read your decision in your bumper delete thread..painting them is MUCH EASIER THAN FILLING IN THE VALENCE.

One small step.......I used the 90 degree cutoff wheel to remove the jagged edges, then re-taped the edges until I can feather and clean them.........

Step 2 will be to clean everything and cut an oversize sheet of aluminum to fit over the entire opening.

Well.......Today is my son's Birthday. I forced myself to get up around noon. The whole family is meeting at 6 p.m. to let the grandkids release balloons to send up to Blake in Heaven.

No doubt he has met Forum Members' children and they are having a great Birthday with JESUS.
It's sad for us adults, but we all put on a Happy Face for the small children.

I will avoid the Politics, which was the reason for his....................death (I HATE typing that word).

Blakes good friend Corey met Blake in Heaven a year later.

Thanks Everyone for your kind thoughts and your prayers.

I have reserved my Signature for events like this one...........
