1/16" would be close enough for me! I bet a lot of our C3's are off by that much and more in different areas. Great job getting it so close!

" I bet a lot of our C3's are off by that much and more in different areas".

Yep...especially door and hood gaps!

What I've learned the hard way in the last ten years is that a 15*F temperature change will move some fiberglass 1/8"
That's why I didn't spend an extra hour getting everything any closer.
Don't even ask what the bonding strip adhesive did to the driver fender.
(I think I put in too much hardener/it started curing and got hotter than normal)

(continued from C4 General Forum Thread)

I FORGOT my "68 Convertible's BIRTHDAY
.
IT WAS DECEMBER 14TH 1967, around 5 p.m.

I must make amends and get her something Special for Christmas....I[m thinking a $300 quart of Gloss Black for the clip fenders and grill area ...and an electric air conditioner compressor (for being late).

What's -her-name's Birthday (my other wife) was the 24th of Novenber, which I remembered, but still made no points. You Guys know about our Point System: When you marry them you start out with 100 Points,,,You can never make more points...but You can lose the ones You have,

That is all.

[quote: SEVENT6 A blast from the past....

Thanks SEVENT6 ! TEAMWORK!
This is an excellent reason Folks should not get upset when someone finds a thread in the VAULT that is badly needed. I also read your link with lots of useful facts,

Here's what happened:
I spent 30 minutes going thru the aim and NO DEGREES listed.30*

That's probably why the previous owner had theoriginal '68 fenders so out of whack when he grafted on the '76 nose....
passenger fender was too far rearward and the drivers fender was too far for ward...and the Rad.support wasn't square with the frame.

I should be able to get wheel well gaps centered...and the fenders at the right heigth when I redrill the bolt holes in the new DIY rad. support I fabbed which I squared with the frame. (IF one bolt hole is off center, it can make the fenders unlevel at the crests by 1".

Ahhhh....the ways of the Veterans Administration. Other than spite I was wondering why my combat injury claims are being denied,
So I request my Military records to show the V.A. the error of their ways, At least 100 pages were missing out of my 201 file....no wonder they are denying everything, even when I appeal.

In 4 hours, this Friday morning at 5:30 a.m. I get to drive2 hours to New Orleans to answer questions from a V.A. Law Judge...it feels like another Court Martial to me...I was no stranger to them in Nam.

It's amazing how they * * * * you in a war zone...and then * * * * you even more for 52 years after being released from Military Duty, The good news is my C.O. exhonorated me at each of the 3 Court Martials, but stripped me of the medals I was promised for certain missions (we doorguners called them Voluntary Suicide Missions).

Now I get to do it all again...just pulling up memories from my Amnesia wears me out daily, lately. I get to relive things I had forgotten for decades to prove my cases.

That's enough for now.
Thanks for the ear,,,,,ooops....another literal Nam term

Good luck at your inquisition Tony. Keep on fighting!
They are currently dragging their feet on my claim. No decision is better than a denial though.

I already dealt with 2 denials on one clain....I appealed and was denied...so I demanded a Judge hear my case which happened today. I was only given 30 minutes to state my case and read evidence I had brought with me. The Judge actuall gave me 30 extra m inutes once she began to actually listen and get involved in the evidence. I may have to have several brain scans done and then answer a series of questions to determine the extent of my trauma.

I told her it was fine with me...ask me any question they could come up with. I told her I kept being denied because approx. 100 pages were missing out of my military records which either were lost or destroyed.

She will decide if I actually need more testing or I can be approved from what I told her today that has taken me 52 years of denials and disregard for my injuries.

Wheel C.

Now maybe I can actually concentrate on the Vette clip rebuild.

I wish you much luck with the case presently before the judge. I sort of know how you feel, the air force lost 16 years of my medical records, now all I have is the last 4 years worth,

Anyway, hopefully her decision will be a nice Christmas present for you!

I’m hoping the same for you as nwav8tor stated. The fact that the judge allowed you extra time to state your case sounds like you got a better shot than you may have had were it a different judge. Some can’t be bothered with us little, simple, peon’s and just want to get big, broad brush stroke questions answered without the details. Good man! I like the sound of what happened, at least in that part.
Now quit messin around and start slingin some glass!!!

I sure hope that you get this resolved, Tony. The experience with the judge sounds very promising! Good luck brother in arms. Lou.

Thanks a bunch, Men. I have to send her about 80 pages of Amnesia-related info to tie it in with my Brain Trauma case. She will have to trust that I am telling the truth...I volunteered for all med. tests to prove brain damage and wii priority mail it Monday. It will take her a week to find time to go thru the 80 pages so I highlighted the major points to save her lots of time.

WHEEL C!

BY THE WAY...one claim was denied because"there is no proof of that condition"!

The punch line from me to them was pointing out paperwork from 40 years ago....
WORD FOR WORD EXACT PROOF in a statement from my wife on file with the V.A.!!!

Since I promised God I would cuss anymor...I;ll leave it at that

Which reminds me...I need to go to the garage to take some measurements from underneath the car of the hood in place with clearance between it and the radiator support to make sure the big block radiator will let the hood close. will be back short....... longly

if its a 67 or 68 big block radiator it will fit..not sure about later years with a 68 radiator support. The 68 sat on top of th eframe while 69 and later was infront of the frame for more area to mount a wider radiators

The way the 68 chasis has the raditor support mounted. It mounts on top of frame rails making the radiator width limited to the inside distance of the frame rails.
69 and later the ends of the frame rails are differnt and the mounting of the radiator support allows the radiator to be wider. The radiator is basically as wide as the frame rails... 68 have a smaller area and the openning in the radiator support for air flow is smaller
