L.H.S...thanks a bunch...along with the murder of our son Blake by an Illegal Alien, and the enemy exections of children in the Viet Nam , days like this are hard to handle.
Maybe tomorrow I will start the exhaust connection to the sidepipe.
Tony,
Sorry to hear this sad news.
You might remember we lost our Doberman Max this time last year.
We still miss him and feel pain over our loss.
I’m sure Lexi had a long and wonderful life.
Take care my friend!

See you in Heaven Lexi
SORRY for your loss
Those little guys are family and sometimes it's hard when they pass....my girl passed coming on6 years and I still miss her
Thanks Fellas...Tie rod War Story: I drove the pickle fork into a well worn tie rod joint/NOTHING, I got a bigger hammer/NOTHING.
I got disgusted and went inside for lunch.
Someone fired a Glock in my garage.
Not really...the ball joint turned loose and slung the pickle fork about 10 feet from the suspension!
I'm still said about our puppy dying in my arms/flashbacks to Nam took over/I was seeing myself pick up dead babies and small children that the enemy soldiers had executed before we were able to evacuate the villages.
I noticed the external resistor next to your coil on top of the wiper bay. What voltage does it supply to the coil when the engine is running after solenoid is disengaged?

That's quite a pickle story. Good thing nobody was in the garage and potentially subject to a fork stabbing!!
Sorry to hear about yout Lexi... I lost my Lab, Lindsey, years ago and I still miss her something fierce. Hopefully she'll be waiting for me at the "Rainbow Bridge" so we can be together again.

I finally got something right on the first try...12V goes into the resistor/5.5-6V exit it to the coil. When I crank the engine a separate lead sends 12 volts to the coil as long as the solenoid is engaged. One the solenoid is disengage the resistor takes over supplying 5.5-6V to the coil with the engine running.

Hang in there and keep that PTSD at bay! I'm tryin' real hard.......
Paul
Thanks Fellas!
I'm still adjusting the exhaust pipes and the mini cats.....
They are hard to see but the downpipes have been blasted/painted with Hi=temp rarrlecan and bolted into place
Once the pipes are adjusted I have aluminum floorboard heat shields to bolt into place between the cats and the floorboard (If I find both pieces)
Pictures sometimes show things I didn't notice while installing parts. The driver-side downpipe needs to be loosened and adjusted upwards at least 1/2".

Damn. So sorry to hear about your experience being brought back like that. 😢 So horrible to not know what could cause it to happen.

THANKS C1........We were told 3 days earlier she was having heart failure, so I was giving her a bath just in case;
As for the flashbacks about the children, I NEVER expected that to happen after 50 years of dealing with atrocities. Note: In war one has to emotionally go numb to keep from going insane. It seems I have saved those tears for 50 years.

Doorgunner, those images you have of those children is something no man should ever experience. It’s unfair that your bravery and service to your country has left you with that. We can only pray that those children are in a peaceful place now. Makes me wonder how many times I pass a veteran on the street not knowing the pain he is going through every day. Thank you for your service.

EXACTLY....it affected me so much I would not hold the babies of my nieces and friends because I would have flashbacks of babies butchered by the enemy soldiers.
I never understood the situation because I have combat-related amnesia. My wife had to make me hold my daughter when she was born,
I guess it's time to explain to them why I seemed like such a Jerk.

ohhh booyyyy. THats going to be a tough one. Im sorry you have to deal with this Tony. They love you. They will understand. You are not a jerk, Thats my title!
I decided to raise the driver exhaust/cat up another inch until the side pipe was about to touch the underside of the frame.
MAYBE one more clamp will be enough!
The camera exaggerated some stuff: the cat is level and there is a 2" gap between the floorboard and the cat where a thick aluminum heat shield will be installed.
I'll regroup tomorrow and do the same to the passenger exhaust...Tweak 'til it squeeks.

When I read about the problems that you have with lingering PTSD it makes me realize how lucky I was with my time in the service. I was drafted in December of 67 and went to basic at Ft Jackson in SC. That was a cold winter in SC and it was 13 degrees when we went on bivouac. I ended up taking an extra year to go to electronics school for 40 weeks and then as luck would have it they decided to send me to Heidelberg Germany. Even back in those days I did not see myself slogging through the jungles of Vietnam carrying an M16. The school was exactly what was good for me and I spent the next 40 years working in electronics. I already have enough issues in my head without having military related PTSD issues. I feel bad for you, but you have made it this far into life and I am glad that you are doing reasonably well so that all of us on the Forum can follow your adventures into working on old Corvettes. Most of us can relate to your Corvette problems as anyone who has one has gone through some of the same frustrating time-consuming issues. Hang in there!
Hey there, Tony life throws as many curves. All we can do is hang on as best we can. Sorry to hear about your Lexi. My only thoughts are remember the good times you and your wife had with her and forget the few seconds of bad. You gave her a great life. We all have limited time on this earth and our dogs are no different.
It’s just sad that our country does not support our veterans suffering PTSD other than just lip service. We should be ashamed of ourselves.
Our Labrador Nicholas died a few years ago. he was the best. I will never forget him. After a while, we decided to adopt a shelter dog. There are many dogs sitting in shelter, looking for a loving family so perhaps Lexi’s passing is an opportunity to save another life. It’s strange but whenever he looks at me, its as if he saying, thank you!!
Give yourself your wife some time and perhaps consider adopting shelter dog and give it a loving life it deserves. Lexi would be proud of you. Stay strong buddy!!!!!
Thanks Guys and Pups...I'll try to get in the garage and finsh raising the passenger exhaust/cat for extra pothole clearance. I may go to a muffler shop and have a single pipe bent to match my Heinze 57 exhaust once it is fitted.
OUT to the garage while I still have the nerve!
By the time I finished cutting a bd bending and welding the pipe...it had more burn-thru holes than swiss cheese.
I need to get some small diameter MIG wire
Today/Thurs. I bought new exhaust tubing. NO muffler shops had a bending machine to make two "Tight" 90* bends within 12" of each other.
Be back Monday.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
