Naaaaaaaa! Michiganites need to remember that 40*F down here is like.........hmmmm.....ZERO*F to them! Our cars are the same as us.......the choke plate closes tight at 60*F

Beautiful wall of parts ya got there Doorgunner. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Back atcha'............43* and rainy....but I'm staying in the garage. The parts-wall is collecting chrome just in case the car gets painted in the next few weeks!
While it's raining, the carb gets new needles/seats/.092 primary jets....(originally primary.100/secondary.110....too big for highway driving)
Opend up and new parts are installed..........
I cleaned a lot of crud/grime off the carb/notice the "non-phenolic" carb spacer that will prevent fuel "boiling" (don't worry....the nasty engine/engine bay will get a good cleaning/painting/organizing in the near future)

The side vents look way better with the chrome in them...
I am sure you already said and I missed it,
Are you leaving the front and rear 74-79 style?
10pm......it finally slowed down to a drizzle, but it's down to 38*F.
I spent about 6 hours in the garage.....and got at least 2 hours work done......... PTSSSSSSSSSSD!
Yes indeed....the vents and louvers work well together....I hit the vents with some primer to have an idea of how much the chrome louvers would stand out...........
Now to answer your question about the '74-'79 front and rear "bumpers"....look down.......it's a '70 bumper clip/no back-up lights below the bumpers...I'll have to add them.......
I am about to buy a "front bumper clip" so I can start the body work in a few weeks.
Here's the goal for the rear of my project.................................

I removed the choke assembly from the '34 streetrod 350SBC......it kills 3-4 times while warming up in temps. below 55*F.
So......the choke is staying on the pproject car.
Update on the re-jetted Edelbrock(Weber) carb.....the engine seems to like the new jets/the rear end of the car does the little "twitch-to-the-right when the TH400 shifts into second gear (the 295-15 tires won't break loose entirely)......the black-inside tail pipes are starting to lighten up in color.....the gas gauge stays near the F longer/LOL!

Thanks Men! I'm doing WHAT I can WHILE I can....I never know when a flashback (throw in amnesia too) will stop me in my tracks for who-knows how long.
The amnesia s-l-o-w-l-y releases it;s grip on me....and I get to relive the things my mind could not handle during combat....I've also learned that I NOW/43 years later/have to grieve over things that I had no time to grieve over in combat.
I will not be able to watch the movie "American Sniper" even though it is a great movie (I have never watched any movies about war since returning from NAM....the most I managed was 10 minutes of "Apocalypse Now")
Anyhow.......

Bats, the last vent has to be blocked off, because it is located in the fresh air duct, that leads to the fresh air vent by your feet. Lou.
I was looking at the drivers side a couple weeks ago when I was last at the shop,
I saw one vacuum vent and a smaller round upward pointing vent type thing, I assumed the last vent was blocked to keep water out of stuff, but when water gets in the wiper bay and runs down the sides what keeps it out of the vents?

Leaves....acorns.....pine needles.....bird feathers....parking lot flyers....
that's what I found when I cleaned mine out.....LOL!

There is a small drain hole in the bottom, around an inch long. My passenger side has a gob of panel cement blocking part of it and it can overflow if I get too much water in there. I need to try and open it up. Lou.

THAT'S good info.....thanks for keeping an eye on me, Loupe68!
(I'm sending this reply to my wireless printer/Christmas present---"It doesn't forget!")
UPDATE: DONE!

It's been a longggggggggggggg day.............Problems with the dashwiring/wires too short/wires too long/camera going bizerk..............
An hour later everything lights up.....but I still have to rewrap each individual sub-harness so that nothing will be pinched/forcedinto place.......
Maybe tomorrow all will be in place so I can install the shift console and touch-up the satin-black paint.
Boy I can't wait until I get to that point. Looks like spaghetti city and I
stink when it comes to wiring. You are doing a great job with yours though.

Looking good Doorgunner. Have you considered splicing a quick disconnect into center cluster harness? It'd make it easier to remove the cluster for work in the future since you would just unhook the connector instead of each individual wire. I saw it in a thread here a while back but of course can't seem to find it now.
Keep truckin' man. Every time I run into a problem with my car I just think back to what you have had to deal with with yours, and realize I need to shut up and get working. You're an inspiration.

Quik-Disconnect? The though never crossed my little mind....I'm going to the garage and count the wires now!
