Hi Norm, man that thing looks real nice. I think the hot rod black is going to make you car look as wicked as it sounds. I can't wait to see this thing next year. I couldn't help notice that you pulled the body off for the final primer stage. AWESOME
Hi ZIO and 7T9L82,
No way can I pull that body back off. Car is setting high up on jack stands with all the wheels pulled off. Fooled you on that one!!
The pop up rear deck under hardtop has already been painted correct color. I taped up what was showing so the primer would not touch it. Once the remainder of car has been sanded and prepped, I can pull off the taped up outside area and paint the entire car all at one time. The already painted area under the hardtop will probably never be seen and if so, it should be a pretty good match. This way I can make one continuous pass from front to rear when applying my topcoat.
Thanks Guys,
NORM
I am not a fan of the flat finish, but oh my is that cool! It has a sheen to it that is killer.what paint did you use? Is it base clear? If it is I wonder how that satin would look with a dose of blue pearl mixed in to a satin clear.Oh no, I'm getting ideas.
Paint is PPG hot rod black. No clear or anything on top. Uncut raw paint. What comes out of the gun is what you get for a finish. Not too bad for a pvc, plastic walls and ceiling paint booth!!!
Thanks guys,
Norm
Awesome Norm, man you have your painting system down for sure. With the things you have done the finish really goes and really! not bad for a make shift spray booth. You got it going on.
OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zio
Thanks to all for the kind compliments. For certain, this will be my last major build and paint job. Unlike a lot of the forum members, I need to hang up the old spray gun and go out with a little style. Glad you appreciate the car.
Thanks,
Norm

Roll the wheels off that car when you are done.......BUT.......
You've got to post lots of pics for those of us who "are still on jackstands"!
