Default totally dumb question

Brace yourself.

my 71 has the Rallye wheels and raised white letters.

For some reason, I am reluctant to apply ArmorAll or some other tire foam.
I am afraid it will look cheesy

Now, my 2006 Subaru has blackwalls and I like to shine and gloss them up, but I am not sure on the 71's.

opinions???

anyone wanna tell me I need a life???

I have white letter BFGs on my 69 Pontiac and have found if you just spray over the letters with tire juice they start to get dirty looking. I use a tire sponge and spray the (I think it's Black Magic) on the sponge and go around the letters, as close as possible. Also Wesleys Bleach White is THE stuff to get the letters white.

If you wanna be real **** about the white lettering, use the Wesleys as per instructions and then hit the tire with your favorite dressing. THEN, using rubber gloves and a small rag, reapply the Wesleys to the raised lettering via the small rag.

This is a tough one...

Just put the stuff on the tires and clean the letters when done. It will look good

I use Westley's Bleche-White to clean and then dress them with Mothers VLP conditioner

Hi,
I use Wesleys on the letters and Eagle 1 Satin Tire Finish on the tires.
The satin makes the tires an even black without making them look wet.
Regards,
Alan

Need life.

Seriously, just put the Westleys on, scrub with a tire brush, rinse, wait to dry, and then a light coat of Armor All. Fast, easy, and works great.

Try some Adam's V.R.T. On the tires. Not a high gloss look and doesn't sling off onto the side of the car.

I don't like 'protectants' that don't dry. For me, Armor-All is the "pits".

For interior plastic/vinyl parts, leather, and rubber (including tires and engine compartment hoses) I have used Nu-Vinyl for over 30 years. It is a water-based, polymer product and will dry quickly, leaving a clean satin finish that will last weeks. When applied to clean tires, it leaves the surface looking like new rubber. It also seals the surface so that it won't pick up dirt in the pores of the rubber. And, since it blocks UV rays, it will keep the rubber viable for longer life. It will not peel, flake-off, or yellow with time.

Mequiar's for plastics and other brands make polymer sealants/protectants. They should be used on rubber & plastics...NOT petroleum based products.

Another vote for Wesleys on white letters (hard to buy up here in )

I've been using 303 protectant for tires (dash etc) for years now. Nice satin black look with no greasy residue to attract dust or sling off the tires.
