There is aprox 3/4" to 1 inch gap between the outer edge of the stinger to the inner edge of the scoop on each side. On the leading edge of the scoop, I built up the inner edges with glass to make them flow better and there are still flat areas of hood between the two...hope that makes sense. But, yes the scoop fit the hood as is.
Yeah thanks, it helps as does that picture of the hood standing up in the shop,
I beat around with scoop ideas I wanted one off but not too way out, I really dig the L-88 but it's on a lot of cars and the count is growing with the restro rod road racer look getting more and more popular,
I also really like the 67 427 scoop GM should have ran it on c3's
Then I like the c3 bb scoop, I was going to just do a 67 on top of a c3 bb scoop but even leaving the dips in it would look like a Motion scoop since they made that mod popular and I do not want to have people thinking my car has anything to do with Motion.

I then see your 67 on top of the c3 sb hood and think, hey , we have something here, it is stunning one off yet refined, I asked about modding the scoop because in hunting around for the 67 scoop each venders are a little different in sizes, an inch here an inch there, one vender even states will not fit a c3 stock hood bulge,

I really wanted to cut one from a busted c2 hood but in a year never found that critter,
I believe years back I saw outfits selling a taller 67 scoop I can't find it now, I am actually a bit surprised how few designs of fiberglass scoops are being sold,

So I popped over to OldGTO's and napped his small block hood, I have my starting point, now need to look closer at 67 scoops being sold....

[QUOTE=Brack c;1588483856]

Future work is a modified L-88

@ Brack - i had a white 81, similar to your 82 - i had the stock hood flow into a L-88 scoop.

I wanted to integrate the L-88 scoop into the aerodynamic 80 / 82 styling.

This is how it looked :

@ more than a dozen Bats : The Chevy SB`s (305) have been available as option for the Firebirds from 77 - 81, in `79 also as a 350ci.

For the Trans Am it was in 1980 and `81

E.G.
I like the way that good looks .Really flows well .
Bats did a mock up of modified hood for me , sorta hybrid between 2 style hoods . Daytona & L88.I Likes it as well ...
Now I'm putting the idea of an L88 , but the front of it like the older BB hoods w/ vents on the side , towards the back , like the Daytona ...

I'm sure you've seen these renditions from vtmg, but I think this is the best looking hood I've seen. The scoop is actually cut down...IMO it really hugs the lines/contours better than any other style and its functional... I was planning on an L-88 style, but these pics are what made me stick with the scoop idea.

As far as this picture and my eyes go it looks cut down but longer and wider....lots of work in this scoop....you know 20 years ago several places sold a tall 427 scoop...but I guess no more out there

I posted a couple years ago when it was a work in progress. Now it's where it will always be - almost done.
