post up your custom c3!!!
Glad you like the hood and i get your point about the mind set thing, BUT...
... my kustom-heart was ignorant enough and i figured the time is just right that our Trans Am fellows borrow us one of their scoops, BECAUSE...
... that scoop originally came off a Chevy motor as the General decided for some model years to implant some of the Bowties into the Trans Am`s stockwise, AND....
... how many of the other Pontiacs around, which had a Pontiac engine originally, later have adapted a fine Chevy motor when it came to restore them or power them up, ALSO...
... when you look at the nose of the C3 Corvette and the nose of the Trans Am, which one is more similar to the angular front portion of the scoop, hmm, but to be sure i`m right i finally asked the GOD...
.... the GOD OF SPEED if it`s right, so that i don`t fall from grace in his appreciation, what i fear more than anything else, and he was thinking about it a while and than told me this could be fair, but to really do JUSTICE...
.... on that Conversion i have to publically dedicate that Trans Am shaker hood scoop on a C3 Corvette, to a human beeing involved in helping the Trans Am to achieve it`s fame, so i hereby formal and officially DECLARE...
.... declare this shaker hood as dedicated to ( drum rolls and Michael Buffer please ) our good friend and hero and shining example, the strong arm of the law - Ladies and Gentlemen, to Mr. Sheriff BUFORD T. JUSTICE
Well at least that is what he said to me.
Or i think that was what i heard someone says to me.
Oh wait a minute, could my own tinnitus have fooled me again ... ?
That Bssss in the ear sometimes sound similar to Bsuuuu...
Buuuu..... Buuuffff....... Buuffffor....
Anyway, that hole is cut in there now, i don`t think we will be able to get that parts back together anymore...!?!

I will add this when completed.
There are various offset plates for the underside of some of the Pontiac scoops, but it still has to be built for that specific intake.
The Smokey and the Bandit scoop from 1977 is lower than this one, but we did not use it as that Intake is tall, also the `77 scoop has a exaggerated ridge on it, like the ridge that the `77 Trans Am hood has on it.
The 80 / 82 Corvette hood has just a very smooth ridge on it`s center, just like that scoop used here.
That would the Ram Air version have been, compared to the other version :
Call me a pimp, but i can`t help myself, if find a shaker is so sweet when you are sitting at traffic lights and watching the engine, like he is doing it`s loosening-up exercises before you stomp on it again and the scoop`s nodding sidewards....

Sorry,
I missed this reply before...whew...okay then, um..ahem,

My point was when / if you take that car to a show ( or it is seen by ) a basic gearhead who starts thinking/talking about the scoop my guess is most will know it as a Pontiac Trans-am scoop...on a vette, and deeper thoughts on it will likely not happen..and I never knew until you just clued me in that some Trans-ams came with Chevy engines, which chevy engines came in the T/A and which year?
I believe your T/A shaker looks very good on your car in a whole build kind of way....

I think you might have mis took my comment as critiquing but it was more a high 5 of kinship and camaraderie, you see I plan on Pontiac tail lights in my 69.
Like I was saying before I wondered what such a scoop would look like on a c3, I think GM should have done it, and at the risk of sounding blasphemous I happen to find some other makes shakers more suited for what I desire, after all each custom is to make the owner/builder happy.
I owe better pictures, but I've been sidetracked with a different project and my first year in a new job...promise to get back on board soon.
There are some amazing cars here with impeccable vision and execution...

I'm jealous....but with a no expense spared build like this you sure did pick skinny tires...

Do you recall which company 67 427 scoop you used, did it fit over the stock sb hood stinger or did you have to widen the 67 scoop?

I just like to monkey around.... so don`t take me serious, i just wanted to make you go
and i´m glad i was succesful hahaNo i did not take it as critiquing, and if i would have, i would still be happy we all do different modifications and in some details have different tastes, otherwise we would all have the same "custom car"...
For the scoop, i think in Hot-Rodders mind a shaker traditionally is tied to a four seater muscle car, not to sports cars, that is my guess why they are not around on Corvettes.
So for the custom idea i found it is time to break with that traditions...
Again, just fooling around (Brent may already know from another place...) , customizing cars is not a serious thing to me, just serious to the wallet
, but i`m happy to find places like this one here where other
guys are around

Thanks for the info! Now if only he were in business or if I could find one of these for my 79. Anyone???
Love this thread and hope it continues to gain momentum.
-- Bats, I'm not sure of the '67 scoop vendor. I'm positive it's standard dimensions...The PO purchased it and grafted it on. I spent a TON of time undoing things and trying to make it right. The underside strand patterns were unbroken. The finish is a def challenge...underside of scoop and topside of hood area under the scoop. I still need to address this. You have no idea how much crap I've caught because of those roller wheels...they sure where useful though!
So many cool projects here, I don't know where to start?
-- Easygear, Thats' an ambitious project and I really like the outcome! I'd heard of mixing bumpers with the hatchback, but didn't think it'd work so well together...and along with the other touches it really goes together nicely!
-- Brent319, Your car rocks! Plain and simple, I think it's one of the nicest looking C3s (for that style and theme) that I've seen!
-- Hale 584, You're definitely on to something...that's gonna be a killer look and the tail is gonna set it off. You've painted yourself into a corner, so to speak, and the finish will need to live up to the rest of it.
-- DennisGreen, I agree with the other comments. Just my opinion, but everything about that car is t1ts, but it needs a 'performance' styled wheel. Those wheels grab your attention, but it's the wrong kind of attention...imho. You change wheels and I'll be your new fan!
-- Amelio, I really like your car, and we need better pics. see below
-- Phantom, you've got a great start there! Just my opinion, but I'd 'steal' some styling cues from Amelio's car...make the grill area pretty and switch to round lights; get the wheels/tires, stance and finish suited to fit the look and you're there!
-- Tektrans, sweet ride yourself! I've had your engine bay pics saved for some time and I may have already stolen some general ideas from ya...?
As is obvious I've got some free time right now. I travel for work, and I'm currently out of the country...perusing the forum and making no progress on the Vette. She will graduate in 2015!

Future work is a modified L-88 good , Black Side pipes , electric headlights , & modified headlights / tail lights .
Keep the pics coming , super craftsmanship ...!!
