Donnybrooke Green

My uncle was instrumental with George Montgomery in starting the Donnybrooke race track here in MN in 1968.
He told me that they named Donnybrooke in honor of their mutual friends that died while racing.
It was named after Don Scogmo (died while racing a Lola at Road America in 1966) - and Brooke Kinard (died during the June 1965 sprints).
I also learned that my uncle and George Montgomery owned and raced a 427 Shelby Cobra together - I asked if the Cobra was going to be passed down to me

He said no, he sold it years ago ..

.
That's an interesting story!
I've always thought the track was named Donnybrooke because of the meaning of the word.... a fight, free-for-all, or uncontrolled activity!
I think I like you history better!

Alan
