Typically you can consult with an attorney initially without costs, to see if he/she feels there is a case worth pursing.
Once it has been proven on tape, and with your pics, pursue it to the fullest (may be hard, if not impossible to actually see the impact on the video though).
Good luck.
I agree, just keep i mind most video surveillance is only good for 30 days at the most, some for less. Call the store and ask them to at least save it. The local PD should be able to get it for you but you need to get it retained.

Thank you for your service.

Stay safe, John

There is little "honor" in mainstream America, these days. Heck, even our 'leaders' (note the cynical apostrophes..) have no honor; why should the folks they lead have any?

But, those of us who still will own up to our mistakes, ask for forgiveness, and try to make it right, at least have a clean conscience and can sleep well at night.

I applaud you, Sir, for serving your country and the rest of us citizens. I feel your pain at being treated unjustly and wish it were not so. But, the reality is that honorable folks are vastly outnumbered in this country these days, and we just have to continue to be honorable in spite of that.

Swallow hard...know that you will continue to be an honorable person in spite of all the day-to-day cr@p we put up with...and continue to be an example of what goodness in America WAS and COULD STILL BE. It's the only way there will still be hope for this country of ours.

A lack of respect is all around us...I hope it shifts in the other direction sometime soon. Thanks for your service and welcome home! I hope that you enjoy working on your Corvette and I am certain that work and school will lead to new opportunities, keep your head up!

Your service does not ensure honor at home , it ensures freedom which includes people like this woman. If your policy covers the damage be happy and just forget it.

Thank you for your service ..

Thanks for all the responses!! I am still reading them. They really cheered me up.

Fry's food stores won't release the security video unless they are served a subpoena.

I think from now on I will keep a can of Jasco in my car… oops!!! Sorry about the paint!!

I'm glad you controlled your self and didn't take matters into your own hands. it is tough to control the rage inside sometimes. Thanks for your service.

Right now I am in Afghanistan till June, we haven't lost anyone, but one of the Capt's. that I am deployed with lost her husband on Dec 27, his funeral will be today 1200pm in CO, Air Force Academy. Sorry to hijack your thread just wanted to vent a little. Take Care of your Therapy Vette,
that's sad. Sorry to hear that. We had Air Force security when I was in Kirkuk, Iraq 2005. I met a girl SGT who was a dog handler. She had a beautiful Dutch Shepherd. Later I heard they got hit with an idd, vehicle flipped, she was a critical medivac. They couldn't find the dog, assumed he ran off. The vehicle recovery team found him in the vehicle alive!

Although she was hurt very bad, there's a happy ending. I saw her a few years later in a Time magazine article. It was about her survival and fight to have her dog!! It was pretty awesome to see that.

Anyways, be safe over there! Thank you for what you are doing!

Thank you! I have $500 deductible and the estimate yesterday was $587.28. Since I had paint chips on the right side, they would only fix the damaged area. Which was fine with me.

I will probably just spot fix it myself.

with all due respects to you as a vet and my great admiration to you I do not think you being a vet has anything to do with this, it's an atrocity no matter who it happens to.

I wonder if the police would have gotten involved if you had went all Rambo on her or her suv? of course they would have, oddly here in fl years ago a cab driver knocked the holy hell outta my car door with his door he cussed me and didn't care, but the police did come out and did site him, the cop was ready to give him a ticket but he changed his tune apologized and gave me a few bucks to cover fixing the ding myself, the cop let it go....

I highly doubt the damage is worth small claims court,

This is one of those things that suck out loud but besides moaning not much we can do about it,
but this was about her being a worthless waste of space rather than spitting on a vet...trust me she didn't care you were a vet, a man or anything else....

Thank you for your service. Just saying that doesn't seem enough to express the gratitude to those that fight to ensure our freedom.
Also, don't let the takers of the world get you down. There are still many givers out there like yourself.
Good luck with the vette. It looks real nice.

Thanks for your service. I am a Nam vet as well. I have worked behind a parts counter for 13 years and have taken a lot of crap through the years. Luckily I don't have too much longer. I have a dim view of the general public.

Youll win hands down small claims is easy and cheap. Bet she pays before you even see the judge.

Had that happen to me yrs ago same run around. Empty parking lot, soccermom decides she wants the spot facing me like that lady pushes a line of 10 carts out of the way wiht her SUV. High winds downhill lot yep that cart train made a big half arc and bam into my truck. "Wasnt my fault it was the wind"!
Long story short she called her husband which was a mistake. I showed up at their doorstep a week later and collected.

Small claims is fast easy and cheap no attorney needed. 10 bux says she pays soon as shes served. Pay the extra have the sheriff serve her so you know its done properly. seen winning cases get lost due to improper service.

Go get her!

I don't have any action items to add, than what has already been offered.

I will however, echo the sentiment that I read most to say "Thanks", for your voluntary enlistment, working your way through your military assignments, and now, for being a part of the C3 and overall, Corvette brother (and sister) -hood.

Good luck with the repair and keep us posted how it turns out. There are many here who will enjoy helping you put this poorly-timed event behind you.
