Default Where's the Honor?

I'm an Iraq Vet did my tour in Iraq, earned a combat action badge, lost two friends. It's been a rough road coming home. I haven't had job opportunities, so I go to school on the GI Bill. I scraped enough money to buy a used 1979 Chevrolet Corvette to be my daily driver and something I can have an interest in besides dwelling in my PTSD and the past and those lost.

Some Veterans have therapy dogs. I guess I got a therapy Vette. I love that car and it's one of the few things that brings me joy in this world.

I go to the Fry's Food Store in Phoenix to get some High Fiber, VA Hospital orders, while I am inside some 60 something lady hits my Corvette with her big Nissan SUV Armada. I waited 25 minutes while the store paged her vehicle and plates.

She finally came out denying it all the way, even though my red paint was clearly on her front tow hook.

She even belittled me when I told her I was a disabled Vet.

I called the Phoenix police, but they said they don't get involved on private property. I called the store for the security footage and they said they only will give it to the police!

Her insurance probably won't pay for it, so my insurance just says, oh well! That's the way it is in America now a days!

You would think people would have a little more respect for someone else's property.

Where's the Honor?

My car before the damage!

Sorry to hear that man...nearly all of the dings/dents/accidents I've been in over the past 10 years have been from careless drivers in parking lots. Not even shocked to hear she didn't own up to it. Most don't.

My first instinct is always to retaliate, but then you're no better than them.

Looks like you have enough evidence for small claims court. Thanks for your service. And remember, karma has a way of evening things out. If you are lucky you may get to see it

The lady has no integrity, it sucks and nothing anyone says will change that. So we move on and keep driving because that is what we do.

Thanks for your service

Sorry to hear about your damage. We all take a risk when it comes out of garage. And for the lady to belittle you for being a Vet, she is probubly a tree hugger that opposed any war.

I would have taken her Plate number, Vin of the car and pictures of your car and her car in the parking spots, I don't know what the laws in AZ are maybe you can file a hit and run or some legal action.

I'm glad you controlled your self and didn't take matters into your own hands. it is tough to control the rage inside sometimes. Thanks for your service.

Right now I am in Afghanistan till June, we haven't lost anyone, but one of the Capt's. that I am deployed with lost her husband on Dec 27, his funeral will be today 1200pm in CO, Air Force Academy. Sorry to hijack your thread just wanted to vent a little. Take Care of your Therapy Vette,

Maybe she was just having a bad day.

Things do have a way or working out in these situations.

Thank you for your service.

There are still plenty of folks with honor.

It's a beautiful car. Sorry you were treated so poorly; you and all the folks who serve don't deserve that. Not by a long shot.

And another thanks for your service from me.

I would pursue the stores parking lot photos/video angle.
They may only release It to the police, but I'm sure the police would request it, if you were represented by an attorney (they can appreciate the serious efforts required in pursuit of the law).
Typically you can consult with an attorney initially without costs, to see if he/she feels there is a case worth pursing.
Once it has been proven on tape, and with your pics, pursue it to the fullest (may be hard, if not impossible to actually see the impact on the video though).
Good luck.

Persue it through a court ordered video viewing, just because she denied it. I would strive to prove this point only to see her eat her words.

Thank you brother for your service. you "are" appreciated!

Here in mass if I called the police, they would come private property or not, that's ********. The best you can do is supply the insurance co with he info and if they want to pursue its up to them. See here if there is an accident you have to fill out an accident report this is a no brainer. Thank you for your service and nice vette. That sucks.

Freaking pathetic person, the picture even shows she overshot her space.
The one quality I see a lot of in Vette owners is resiliency. You are a true example.

Thanks for all you have done!

Another thought came to mind, I'll bet if you did a nice smokey burnout in the parking lot the police would be on your ***! they just didn't want to deal with it or maybe the "lady" was somehow connected, seems our society is getting more and more corrupt each day, again look at our "leaders"!

SGT Crowley, a few things, first, thank you. Second, as most of us learn when we get out, honor typically (though not always) means something different to us than to those who never served in any capacity. Not everyone takes responsibility for their actions, I’m sure you knew a few while you were in that were like that too, sad but true. As a thought, anytime I take my vette into a parking lot and I can’t park it in a place that doesn’t have a car that can pull in in front of it, I back it in or don’t park there, for this exact reason. Been there, done that, it sucks. And finally, Karma is a cold bitch. You don’t have to be there to see it, but she’ll get her piece, know that. Maybe a small comfort now, but she’ll show up sooner or later, she always does....
