Thanks guys for all the help. That's good information to know! Glad I painted the harmonic balancer and power steering pump the right colour! I went over to the paint forum and got one post that criticized my integrity in a very lengthy post. Pretty mad about it. thanks for everyones' opinion! I'll post some picture and come back if I need any help and when I'm done.
Thanks Alan!!! Ya, they removed it. I was just put off from what he said after I've been doing all this work and needed help. Thanks man! Major problems with the rad tonight so I've decided to get a new one. The previous owner stripped the nuts that join the transmission cooling to the rad. Still tracking down paint... I can't seem to find any JD paint so does anyone know if Canadian tire, Auto value, princess auto, Home Depot or Rona carry any satin that would suit me? I have a car show coming up on the 24th (I'm pushing it a bit close) and I can't wait to have stuff ordered. Or any other stores in Calgary Alberta that would have it?
I have used Dupli-Color engine enamel in low-gloss black and think it looks pretty good. Pretty good paint and reasonable in price. Available from CT and Part Source.
If you have a crack in the wheel well above the upper control arm openings you may have to fix it using resin and mat. The liners are an important structural part of the fenders. You would be better served if you can post pictures of you project so that people here can better help you.
I won't comment on the engine bay paint since I use automotive single stage with a matte additive.
And Oh! Congrats on the Vette and welcome.
VHT metal color paints are very good....especially the Hi-Temp paints that you can bake to a hard surface. I do not use them for general-purpose painting jobs.

You are working hard to get it the way you want it, no sense in making a repair that may not last for the long haul.
Junior it sounds like you are working hard to do a good job and you should be commended for it! I have always used Krylon "Rust Tough" Semi Flat Black and it has always looked good and stays on well for me. Just my two cents. The shot of the engine compartment on this post was all done in the Krylon Semi Flat black. One thing that you will want to consider is to not paint the hoses or air conditioning box or any of those things. It makes a real difference when you take the time to detail the compartment by only painting what was originally painted black.
Notice there is no paint on the fan shroud which is plastic. It had been painted at one time and I took stripper and removed the paint.
Hope this helps and good luck with your project.

Don't know of anyone in your area specifically but around here it's available at the semi local place that sells and services JD lawn equipment.
I played around last year with every version of semi-flat and semi-gloss black, lacquer, enamel, even water base, that I could buy from CT, HD, Lowes, etc.etc.etc. and sprayed different panels of aluminum, fiberglass and steel trying to find a version I liked (I'm far from restoring anything, just making it the way I like)
The blitz black is noticeably different and what I ended up shooting the firewall and inner fenders in. Good sheen while still able to wipe it down, which you can't do with some of the others
Anyway, check your local lawn and garden JD, they should have it on the shelf (not cheap though)

Finished painting the engine bay! I'll try and find/take a picture of the completed engine compartment. I ended up using duplicate colour engine enamel low gloss. I love the colour. I also did some patches and the one on the left fender. It's not perfect but the flash brought out the imperfections more.
Another 'extra' detail for the engine bay is to detail all the wiring. After years of heat, oil, etc, all the wiring is dull and ugly. You can use a cloth with lacquer thinner (plus protective gloves and lots of fresh air) to wipe all the wiring down and remove all the crud/oil/paint/whatever. Then give them a coating (or two) of Nu-Vinyl polymer polish for plastics [or Mequiar's polymer for plastics]. The wiring will look like new and stay that way for a long time. You can wipe more on any time you want. It won't peel, yellow, or chip; and it dries completely....no petroleum products on plastics, please!!
