Looking for information regarding C-3 mystery suffix numbers. 1971 coupe and information about article in Corvette Vue 1980, stating that the Central Office said it made forty cars in 1971 with M22 Rockcrusher trans and some having A/C.
Our tank sticker shows that this car is number 34 out of 40. This car is all original and matching numbers. Any more info would be great
All I've seen is that for 1971 the CJK is a 350/270hp with a 400 turbo automatic. Can't find an explanation about a 4 speed. Was yours a very early or very late production number?

I'd go back and read through the article again. Who is "Central Office"? CJK indicates the base engine with TH400. The earlier suffix was CGT. You could not get a four speed with a CJK engine.
There were 130 cars with the M22 FOR 1971.

Post a pic of your tank sticker. I have a hunch the 34 is shorthand for the job number.
Hi rM,
It would be interesting to see some pictures of the engine pad, the transmission stamps, and the tank sheet you mention.
How original is this "all original" car?
Regards,
Alan

Central Office is GM General Motors Main Office. Most of any information about a lot of different issues went up in the fire in 1981 at the St. Louis Plant. Also the NCCB the Bloomington Judges have verified forty cars were made with the auto trans M22 some having Air. I have the vin #from the one other car they had back in 80's who knows where that is now. I will send a pic of engine. Thanks for your time

Hi,
Since it's "all original" I'd think people would be very interested in seeing it. Have you considered displaying it?
Folks would be especially excited about seeing the original air filter element, the original oil filter, the original tires, and the original exhaust system. These items have so often been changed on even very low milage cars.
This could be the original car many enthusiasts have been hoping would turn up.
How about a couple of pictures at least?
Regards,
Alan

Sorry Rockcrusher, but someone is giving you very poor information. The fire is a Corvette Myth. I seriously doubt anyone at Bloomington verified an auto trans M22. The M22 is a heavy duty four speed transmission.
You say you have the tank sticker. If you would scan it and post it, we could answer a lot of your questions.

So the people at the Corvette Museum lied and said the St. Louis plant office caught fire in 81? Everyone I have talked with knows about the fire. I do have the tank sticker. this very poor information is from GM, the Central office. Maybe you have the wrong info.
This car is an LT-1 rockcrusher M22 trans with A/C, maybe if you read corvette vue you would see what this car is. They only made forty.
CJK code is most definitely not an LT-1 engine code. There were no LT-1 cars with A/C until the latter part of the 1972 production year.
There's lots of CJK cars around, they're all base engine with auto. Nothing rare or unusual at all.

The museum has been mentioning this supposed fire for years. Quite strange because the people that actually worked at the St. Louis plant office before, during and after 1981 know nothing about it.
Some (erroneous) info issued by GM at one time stated that CJK was 330HP with auto transmission. This does not agree with your car supposedly having this code with an M22 4 speed.
No tank sticker on any Corvette made mention of any car being 1 of 40 or anything similar. The line workers had no idea nor would they have cared.
