in my opinion, the verts need to have a good rot free frame and windsheild structure. since they dont have the t-bar roof connection. so yes they need to have better than average condition metal than coupes with all else being equal

If you plan to drive it in nice weather you will enjoy the convertible more.. or I should say that I would enjoy the convertible more. I have a 68 bigblock convertible and obviously opted for both features. It would be a tough choice for me if I had to give up one vs the other, but you can always change or modify the engine. I would never try to convert a coupe to a vert, but we have seen it done.
