If you like automatics, don't drive a sports car.
4 Speed in the C3, but if i was going for a new performance car it would be auto with paddle shifter

I've noticed at work most C5, C6 and C7 owners pick automatics. Even the younger guys.

How many automatic Harleys, BSA's, Nortons, and Triumphs have you ever seen?

So I guess I shouldn't drive my low 9 sec sports car or my mid 10 sec sports car because they are auto? They cant go around turns because they're auto?

Keep banging gears in your 15 sec vette and tell yourself youre in a premium sports car...

I agree with everyone else...if your putt putting around town it is fun to shift gears, especially in classic vettes that generally have no power...the stick helps them "feel" faster/more peppy. As far as actually going faster, auto is the way to go...

BTW my dad has 3 mid year C2s, all are sticks, all of them are fun to cruise around in(for showing off and making noise at the shows)...all of them are slow....they would only be worse with an auto...

Another vote for automatic. I had plenty of fun banging gears when I was younger. I still have a 4 speed in the 66 goat. But for just cruising.... automatic is the way to go!

Actually my wife .....has told me on several occasions she considered a corvette a sports car ....and auto matic wouldn't seem quite right . She is a lead foot....LoL

Had a few auto Vettes , the manual is more fun to me anyway.
You are pulling my leg (bad pun)! All kidding aside, a non-hydraulic clutch can be a real chore in city stop-and-go traffic for an iffy left knee.

I prefer a manual in any car. If the C3 only came with an automatic, I would have bought something else. There is so much enjoyment when, entering a corner, you brake, push in the clutch, blip the throttle and release the clutch at the perfect time. I even enjoy double clutching, which is completely unnecessary thanks to synchros.

My previous Vettes were 4spds ('69 L36) and automatics ('75 L48 & '80 L48). Numerous other sports cars with a 4 speed, too. Four speeds are fun to drive but I am tired of rowing gears. Driving my '68 L36 with a turbo 400 is more pleasurable. JMO

Auto for 3 reasons:
1-I drag race
2-I really stink at shifting a manual when I drag race
3-I don't want to manual shift anytime, ever

Way back when, it was a stick or nothing. Now many years later with old knees it is an auto. with manual shift kit. AT are quicker in the 1/4 mile.

I'm 64 and have had one knee replaced. We have 3 vehicles and all are stick. My wife who is close to my age would not want an auto either. Just got a new pickup had to go with the Ram diesel as it's the last full sized truck available with a stick.
No automatics in this house.

On the strip the autos are faster/more consistent. On a road course the stick wins (from road tests I've read this still holds up with the C7's). I like to shift. All my cars are manuals. My wife prefers auto but can drive a stick like a champ.
