Default What do guys prefer, automatic or stick shift?

Hey guys I wonder what is it more popular and hot to drive a C3, automatic or stick shift. I personally like stick shift, all the cars I have now they are stick shift.
I personally believe sticks shift have more resale value.
What you guys think about it?

Personally, I love a stick shift. Just more fun to drive and sounds so nice as you pull away from a stop and shift through the gears. Whenever I see a Vette (any year) and it takes off and is an automatic, I wonder what the guy was thinking when he ordered it. If you like automatics, don't drive a sports car.
How many automatic Harleys, BSA's, Nortons, and Triumphs have you ever seen?

Default Automatic, =

Individual preferences would be favoring a manual trans by those new to Corvettes...Being a racer I have used them both and the auto trans cars including Vettes were always a few tenths faster and records by both confirm that the auto is faster...Now, about resale value too those new to Vettes I can admit they probably prefer the manuals and will pay the extra price

And all my Vettes are 4 speeds...go figure

Not that I don't completely agree with you, but I beg to differ to the last argument. They were manuals because they were European cars. Automatic cars in Europe are for disabled people, whatever disabled means.

There can't be any doubt about the outcome of this survey.

BTW - Harleys, BSA, Norton and Triumph are motorcycles. Don't know why they matter in this discussion.

Automatic by far! Technology has surpassed the manual shift. When you kick an auto down into passing gear you will leave the mis-shifters behind in a heartbeat. Of course these are the thoughts of a "girly senior" who has no trouble outsmarting a "flat belly" any day.

Manuel, for the fact that you become part of the mechanical chain of events. It is you who ingauges the power to the wheels with your hands. Also, love the feeling of the tranny slipping in to gear, sometimes it meshes ever so slightly and you can feel the gears connecting. Love that. Down shifting and blipping the throttle to match the RPM is pretty great as well.

Automatic. As you get older a few things like knees and ankles don't work as well as they used to....

True that!

But ....I'll keep driving Stik shift even with my peg leg and cane

Actually my wife .....has told me on several occasions she considered a corvette a sports car ....and auto matic wouldn't seem quite right . She is a lead foot....LoL

Had a few auto Vettes , the manual is more fun to me anyway.

Depends where I'm driving. If I'm in the city I prefer an auto, if I'm out in the country or
on the freeway give me a manual.

4speed here but I gladly admit that automatics are very nice too and perhaps a bit more civilized. Just trying to reach across the aisle a little. Turbo400's are pretty awesome imo

Manual.

Corvette's are sports cars and the only to really enjoy a sports car is with a manual transmission. Besides my L46 only came with a 4 speed, automatic wasn't an option.
