Mine just started working the other day when i was connecting some relays for my headlights, I was jiggling the brown wire that goes to low beam and then i started hearing a buzzing inside, my dash was kinda lit up and that buzzer would only stop once i turned off the headlights, strange alarm.
As for number 3, that was the standard way to dim/bright the headlights. Back in the day it seemed natural nd normal. I have to admit that nowadays, being used to the dimmer on the t/s stalk, the foot dimmer is really a PITA.

Especially C3's with manuals! Every time I go to shift at night, I always end up hitting the dimmer and it has gotten police attention before as they thought I was flagging them down. I also think that was just an excuse to see my C3.
Things i'm meh about :
Flappy map pockets instead of a real glove box
Battery location. Granted its better than a C2.
Things I love(except when I have to fix them)
Wiper door
Hidden headlights
T-Tops
I removed the alarm switch on my 75. Makes the fender so much better looking!
Alarm never worked anyhow... and she's always in the garage when at home.
The battery behind the drivers seat came in real handy, when the car wouldn't start.. just wiggled the + cable, and she fired up. Didn't have to get out and pop the hood!
Things I could live without: Vacuum for the headlights.. Electric motors are much better.

My seat belt buzzer started working during a parade. I had no idea what it was until I buckled up at the end to leave.
My fiber optics let me know a year ago that I had no brake lights working. The Mako Shark II show car is where the wiper panel came from. Ever heard of aerodynamics? Lou.
A lot's been said about what's to love and hate about C3s. But what about the dumb things that are still sort of cool? By that I mean - a feature, component, part, or characteristic that miraculously still functions but you'd probably not miss if it didn't. Or anything which seems charming because it's silly, or obsolete.
Here are some of mine:
1. The little square dash light that reminds me the headlights are coming on.
2. Ashtray cover that slides backwards from a dead stop.
3. 'Automatic' headlight bright switch (automatically/inadvertently operated by pilot's left foot).
Ok... perhaps a dumb question, but since I recently acquired my '79, I have never seen the dash light the lets me know the headlights are coming on. Is that a feature on the 79? Or perhaps my bulb is just out... that certainly wouldn't surprise me.
Well they didn't have computer geeks back then and electronic thingy to wow he buyer .....
So .....they had to have some sort gimmicks , to make the car stand out as new and different , ahead of its tine... and they used mechanical funky mousetrap crap devices

Anti-theft alarm key cylinder on the driver's side front fender of my '75. Moved there from the rear panel in '74. Anyone ever armed theirs?
I was going to ask something similar: anybody actually use that system regularly? I've never gone through mine - even just for the fun of getting it to function.
As I read Ignatz's post "The little map clip on the front of the seats. Who uses that"? I said no, that's for the lap belt... As I read "Gator79" response I chuckled and thought to myself; GM thought of everything. . If I"m gonna be driving my car hard I better store those seatbelts first so they're not flopping around during hard corners.. Sounds to me like the dumbest C3 thing!! LOL just kidding around!

Not dumb at all! For early cars with just lap belts, when you remove the belt before exiting the car, if you just flop them on the floor, the buckles tend to nick the aluminum sill plate, giving it a tattered appearance. Using the clip stows the buckle neatly. No more nicks.
