This Winter Weather - Rant!
1. Up here its like an off season to work on our cars and we take advantage of the down time.
2. Global warming means the whole globe, not just North America where its actually cooler than normal (99% of the world is warmer)
3. We had a high of 10 today and tonight's low will be minus 14 with wind chill at minus 25
4. Wisconsin has more bars per capita than any other state for the above condition
5. Refer to #1

This weather does stink. Baseball season was supposed to begin for the high schools and colleges. They won't be playing for at least another week or two.
Front and rear suspension work on hold pending warmer weather.

I put the car up for storage in late October and dropped the oil pan to fix a leaky rear main seal. Well, as luck would have it, I discovered my block was cracked, internally and I couldnt repair it. Through the generosity of another member here, Ive obtained a replacment short block and should have the new engine back in the car next weekend. Then begins the tedious task of hooking everything up. But hey, seeing how this thread is about winter.....the engine swap has been keeping me real busy in my garage while its -5 and snowing outside.
Back in '68, one of my friends/neighbors bought a '66 Corvette with a bad engine (big block). He got the car reasonably inexpensively, located another short block, and we were going to do the swap-out over one weekend and a couple of evenings..........................
Turned out the car had other problems, primarily in the ignition system (early GM transistorized), that we didn't know about, until we swapped the engines, and couldn't get the "new" engine to fire up. After a few weeks of "troubleshooting", we finally got the engine to fire, but it didn't run right. Turned out a less than honest "engine builder" threw a bunch of odd rods, pistons, and a crank into a block, and called it rebuilt.
Long story short, we started this project in mid-November, and screwed with it until mid-January, in an unheated garage. What a "character builder"...............

I cant do a gosh darn thing in the shed or workshop, because the yard is so wet, muddy, and messy. Vette will be closed up for atleast another couple weeks.
Yes, it does get annoying at times, as this winter has been much colder that winters in the past, but it hasn't stopped me from getting around.....

Me and the wife ran a 4.2 mile charity event today. The best part was standing in a line for a porta-john in 25 degrees.

Having said that, I also have to say that winter didn't bother me as much in the past, as it has for the last several years. For a number of years, I had the use of a fully insulated, heated, and well-lit, 2 car garage, at my mother's house. I'd plan the "upgrades" and maintenance work for the winter, and had plenty of time to do it. Sadly, about 10 years ago, she developed Alzheimer's, and had to be admitted to a nursing facility, so the house had to be sold, to cover her living expenses. In the process, I lost my "shop", and winters haven't been the same.
I was able to build an addition to the garage at my own home, but the zoning regulations didn't allow me to build as big an addition, as the place I had lost, so it's really been a bittersweet deal. Yes, I at least have indoor space for the toys, but due to the lack of width, I can't do much more than get them inside, out of the elements. There's really no room to work on them. I initially had plans for a 4 post lift, which would have helped out a LOT, but when all was said and done, the budget wouldn't allow for it. Maybe in my next lifetime, things will work out better....
