WOW. That is a serious project. Espc for someone on Active Duty....
BTW I'm also local to you and work on Quantico.
We have a pretty good network of Corvette enthusiast, Racers and Hot Rodders in the NOVA area. If you run up on anything you can't handle at the base faculties PM me and we'll see what can be done.

Nice job on the dollie. You are going to appreciate the large wheels. It will make it a lot easier to move around. Good that you added some corner gussets for support. Didn't notice at first the axles, pretty cool!

I know I got the idea for the large wheels on the forum... It might have even been from you! I picked them up at Harbor Freight, they were bigger than what Home Depot had. $22 a piece, I'm going to have to find a project to use them on when the body comes off the dolly!

"Isn't that going to rot apart in a few years in this humidity?"
Haha! That's a good idea! I'd love to see a picture if you have one. Did they have camera's back when you were working on your '34 Ive seen your truck in the background on your thread. Great looking hot rod.

Will! Thanks! Semper Fi!
I appreciate the offer, What shops would you recommend in the area? I am looking for some professional help on running brake and fuel lines when I get my frame in and assembled in a few weeks. I'm open to recommendations. Or I may just do it myself. Something new to learn.
And it may be a lot of "work" but I'm a Captain, and the Corps doesn't let me do any real "work" so it's good to get my hands on and get dirty again. I'm going through EWS, and they give us lots of time I'm able to keep up good progress.
Let me know if you want to come take a look at anything.
I was doing some research on how to store my windshield while its off the car, any recommendations? Anyone order one and happen to have picture of what the packing material looked like?
Also, looking at replacement glass, it looks like the 68-72 glass is different from the 73-75...
Will the windshield from my '74 parts car work on my '69???
Congrats on the progress, and what I'd say is a great plan! I too suffered the AD spell and constant project interruptions that the mil life has to offer. I retired from the AF in 2013, moved to CA, got RE-married, career move, finally buying a house in this friggingly expensive state and am soon to return to what really matters. I'm sure you've perused the pics posted on my profile, but if you need there are more...and an explanation to go with them. I happen to be in the VA area (DC/Williamsburg) a few times a year for work as well. If you have questions or need pics don't hesitate to send a PM. With that said, if the planets align and you're at a certain stage, perhaps I can drop by to lend a hand. I'll pass my email/cell in PM if you'd like. Continued good luck!!! Postal

If your willing to take it to the Baltimore area....
Dominic Cimino is the chassis builder there and he is top notch. He did the cage and the straight axel conversion using a Cobra Jet Mustang 3 Link rear suspension under my 84 Corvette Drag car.
Tom is the owner and Brian is the Tech. All 3 are great people to work with.
EB3 Motorsports in Manassas is known for good work. Althou I have personally not had any work done there, everything I have seen come from their shop has been very nice. They are racers and have a Mustang that runs in my class at Mason Dixon.
A-1 Speed and Custom in Fredericksburg. I buy my nitrous and small parts from them every month because they are a close drive from work and I can shoot down there and get stuff I need the day before the race. Nice guys. Racers as well but I honestly don't know that much about the cars they build and work on.
There is also a so called "Pro Modified" Race Car Chassis builder in Manassas. SM Race Cars..... I'll let you make up your own mind....
So I have been continuing the research for hte project, and I determined I needed some tools and some manuals to be set up for success:
I picked up a set of 2000 Service Manuals for the C5 Suspension components I am using. I also have a C5 so It wont go to waste.
I also picked up a performance how to which I am hoping will help with wiring, linking the LS up to the C3 system.
Picked up a impact driver
And my Body straps arrived
Body is coming off this week
Capt EWS is a great time to do this. I am in Stafford if you get thirsty and want to drop by. I am starting to wire up my project I also work in the Quantico, retired Marine Semper Fi https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ica-kinda.html PS. If you want to borrow my straps your welcome to them.

There are a few other local places in F'burg and one in Woodbridge but I don't know anybody that works at them or that has any work done by them.

Sweet! Thanks for the offer I'd love to stop by, I've seen your project and I'd love to check it out in person! And Now you offer, right after my straps arrive
Semper Fi! Let me know when would be a good time to stop by.
After double checking, confirming with my chassis builder (SRIII) and shipping in some Core Parts, I got in my order for my Differential and Transmission. RPM took my deposit and they are getting started! They should ship around 9 October
I worked with Jeremy at RPM, and I am a return customer. They really do great work.
I went with a TR6060 (Level 7) and a rear diff (3.70 Gears) from a 2010+ Camaro. Both parts will be powder coated black.
Both are getting shipped straight to SRIII for final drive-shaft and output shaft measurements, and then will be shipped with the frame to me. Its looking like a November - December to get the frame in my hands. Which gives me 6ish months to get it to roll. Should be a good timeline

My frame should hit the jig at SRIII any day now
Are you going to have it powder coated with them or wait until you have your mods completed. I had mine coated in Manassas and they did a great job

I was going to have them paint it black - rather than powercoat. This way I only have to assemble it once and if something does need to get modded I can just paint and now have to do the whole thing. What do you think?

True enough with what you have said. I did my mods with the body on then pulled it one more time and had it powder coated. I think it was $550 with a lot of parts. t
